Out of Control: Netanyahu’s Theatrical ‘Iran Lied’ Dossier

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a Monday prime-time performance for the world – but it was probably only meant for an audience of one: U.S. President Trump.

Bibi’s theatrical show, complete with cartoonish slides and magician curtains, was billed as Israel’s smoking gun ‘dossier’ on Iran’s ‘secret nuclear program’ in defiance of the 2015 nuclear deal that Trump is expected to make a decision on later this month.

But what Netanyahu presented to the world was literally just that – a magic show with no real evidence to back any of it up. Manipulative, devious, cynical, and ironic. It had all the trappings of a man out of control and bloodthirsty for war with Iran. Watch:

He even insulted the integrity and work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), referring to them as ‘either liars or idiots’ prompting political analyst Marwa Osman to comment:

“We all had our laughs, we all made fun, but to be honest with you — this was the most insulting 15 to 20 minutes for the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency] that I’ve ever heard,” Osman said. “Benjamin Netanyahu was basically saying that every inspector, investigative team that went into Iran to try to mediate the nuclear deal… is either a liar or an idiot. That’s what he said.”

There was also no mention, not surprisingly, in the speech about Israel’s own secret nuclear arsenal, which The Guardian reported on back in 2014.

Fact: Netanyahu was wrong about Iraq. So what makes him think he is right about Iran? And why should we believe him?
