US Troops To Remain In South Korea

US presence in the Peninsula has nothing to do with North Korea according to the US. Because of the threat of China, it is vital for them to be there. With the recent ongoings with Taiwan, it seems like the US is trying to surround China. North and South Korea, now Taiwan. Keeping their own military in the area only raises the suspicion of a possible defense against China. Moon’s spokesperson Kim Eui-kyeom said:

“US troops stationed in South Korea are an issue regarding the alliance between South Korea and the United States. It has nothing to do with signing peace treaties,”

Some people are thinking this is the Libya model coming into play. US National Security Advisor John Bolton said:

“We have very much in mind the Libya model from 2003, 2004. There are obvious differences. The Libyan program was much smaller, but that was basically the agreement that we made,”
