Savaged: Houston woman Maria Arcos is fighting for her life
A woman is fighting for her life after suffering a heart attack brought on by a horrific dog attack that has left her with severe wounds from head to toe.
Maria Arcos was set upon by a pack of at least 15 dogs while she was on her way to start a new job on Monday morning.
The 52-year-old, from Houston, was passing through an underpass when she was surrounded by the pack of strays, the ring leader of which is believed to be a pit bull cross.
The wild animals savaged her, pulling her to the ground and biting her arms and legs.
Arcos was left with severe wounds and is now in hospital in a critical condition. Her family fear the attack left her so badly injured she might not pull through.
Her stepson Oscar Reyes said: ‘They were eating her – the dogs was eating her to the bone.
‘They bit her arms, her legs, her neck. They cover her.
‘Supposedly in 48 hours, if she doesn’t get better, she’s not going to make it.’
During the frenzied attack, Oscar claims his stepmother’s clothes were ripped off and she now has severe wounds covering most of her body.
Although she was still conscious when officers arrived, the stress of the mauling caused her to have a heart attack.

You’re correct about the whole “dog fighting” puppy mills and it’s so sad that this is a reality. Not only are these Fighting dog mills horrible examples of animal cruelty, but the quest for a “champion fighting dog” has actually destroyed a once beautiful breed- the Pit Bull. These mills continue breeding aggressive dogs with aggressive dogs and this causes that trait or behaviour to become a permanent trait in the breed. It’s the same as breeding a white coloured dog with another white coloured dog, soon that’s all that’s born after a couple generations. Since so many pit bulls have been bred specifically to be vicious and ruthless fighting dogs, it’s caused this trait to be dominant in the breed, then, the rescue groups go in and remove these animals from fighting mills, to adopt them out to families. Since many are puppies when found, people have no idea what they’re getting into when they get a puppy that’s carrying that gene of violence and aggression. Then, these people realize that they can’t seem to manage the animals “prey drive” so, the turn to TV and it’s episodes of the “Dog Whisperer” hoping Caesar’s tactics work. The dogs then seem to be ok, until a visit to a dog park or park with children turns that prey drive back on in full force.
I hate to have said that as I have 2 dogs currently, but also I’ve had dogs all of my 40 years on this rock and my dogs are the greatest friends. If my wife see’s a black person with a dog, she instantly thinks the dog is abused and treated like crap. I live in Ontario, Canada and even though dog fighting isn’t common at all, yet my wife is correct more than she’s wrong when it comes to blacks and dogs.
That might not be overly far fetched. At least once in this area some of them sicked a rottweiler on an older white woman out for her daily walk because she asked them to be careful with the dog. Of course they said the dog just got away while other witnesses said otherwise. No charges were ever filed and I’m not sure a report was filed either.

My God! That poor, poor woman! I can only imagine the terror she felt. The article didn’t say who came to her aid or if the dogs were captured. Dogs should never be allowed to pack and run wild as they lose all domestication. I’m so sorry for this woman and I will pray for her. Really.

I’m having a really hard time believing this seeing is how domesticated dogs gone stray are loners by nature. Plus go research the number of dogs humane shelters put down weekly! There is no way 15 stray dogs were in houstan Texas. They said she got attacked at a bus stop then later point out it happened in an underpass. I don’t see many bus stops under bridge ways. I also find it odd that the author stated THE LEADER to be a pitbull mix. Pitbulls DEFFINETLY are not pack animals. This people is called dis info prolly cuz the police/military don’t wanta have to deal with dogs when they come try to enslave us and take our guns.

SOLUTION: I’m posting this to HELP HUMANS. An elderly couple in GA was killed in recent years while out for a walk by a pack of domestic dogs gone mad. Somebody was maintaining this pack also. Another instance where a little 5 year boy got torn to shreds and killed in AL in recent years. So, as much as anyone might scream, I feel people are more important than these pets run amok, and the vicious animals people choose to harbor to attack their fellow countrymen and women.
String a steel cable across some trees. From this, drop heavy steel leaders with big treble hooks. Make them high enough so the offending animals must jump up to grab meat baited on these hooks. With enough hooks and bait, you’ll get the whole pack in one shot. This is an old trick from the back country to control coyotes, and it could be used to keep you and your CHILDREN and family SAFE! Don’t wait for the government or any animal advocates to stop the deadly danger, they DON’T CARE.
Strays are getting to be a problem in many places, dogs and cats a like. Dogs attack pets and people and cats wipe out the wildlife. Yet in spite of all of this, the animal lovers won’t allow them to be hunted.
