April King – Poet – The 2nd Interview

Question: Tell us something about yourself once more.

Answer: I’m a very happy person, I love working with kids in the childcare. I haven’t been going out as much. I attend to stay home by writing or drawing. I sometimes watch TV, or hang out with my friends Angela or Ruby. I have been going to school for a long time, off and on at Sac city college. I love animation and graphics, I’m trying to get a certificate in animation and maybe major in graphics. I ‘m thinking about changing my major again to Business, I will have to see.

Question: A lot of things went in your mind after the first interview. Thoughts of Selena, thoughts of the rain, thoughts of a man that you were attracted to. Can you elaborate on this?

Answer: In the last interview I didn’t say much, because I was nervous. As you know, I am 34 years old and I love to write poetry. I enjoyed writing poetry, since my days in high school. It started in my English class for writing. There I learned how to write different kind of poems. Since then I started to write about how I feel towards people.

I wrote about Selena, on how she would feel, if she saw things through me. Also on how she would feel if she experienced certain aspects of my life. I would imagine on what she would say if she was still alive. In my twenties, I had seen this guy, I gazed upon his eyes and it made me feel different inside. It made me feel like I was in another time zone, another dimension, I felt like I was transformed inside. For some reason, it inspired me to write even more poetry. Based on the feelings I had for this man, I felt like I had a different person inside me, or maybe ‘persons’. Perhaps, I met this man in my past life. Just by gazing into his eyes, I started going through some heavy stuff. I didn’t know who I was or where I was at. I was sort of disoriented. I felt like I was a lost soul. I started to see things and it felt very realistic.

The rain helps me out a lot when writing poetry. It helps me to think of people who are lonely or sad. It brings up a lot of different feelings for someone I use to care about in my past. I truly believe that I lived another life and was in love with someone romantically.
By expressing my love in so many ways and it can be heart broken at times in my poems.

I feel that I was searching for my love and I had put it in my poetry. I do enjoy being outdoors, it’s very fun, I like jet skiing, boats, camping but I haven’t done those things in a long time. I enjoy being around my family and friends. I go to church and I had started to write about Jesus. Now I have just been writing about all kinds of stuff that goes through my mind. My poetry is very different, it’s like a story more than a poem. I try not to write long poems, but I can’t help myself. I hope you enjoy my poems and want to hear more.

I Can’t Go Without Your Love

I have been thinking of my sweet love, who I can’t go without,
Your love, love, loving me inside my heart,
I will cry if I can’t have you in my arms again and having to tell
Me you are in love with me,
I would do anything for you, just don’t go away from me,
I can’t go with your love,
My sweet prince,
I feel that you are going away from me, but I know you love me,
Let us be together forever in eternity,
My love who is my heart, I bleed for day and night for you,
So, please don’t leave, I love you always.

The Last Goodbye and Kiss I Will Ever Give You

(something maybe Selena would say…)
I hope that you keep all the kisses I give
You dear to your heart,
‘Cause it could be the last goodbye I will ever give you, ever in life,
I know that goodbye is never forever, I will see you again in life…

When I Woke Up Inside Myself
I see a whole new person staring at me,
Who is this person I see?
She’s wearing a purple outfit and has long black hair,
I think she was a Latin singer that was famous,
Once I woke up inside myself, I felt love that was,
So deep, deep for a man,
That plays the guitar, who can he be?
This man I loved, waking up was hard knowing I would have to face my past,
Of who I was, I went through a lot of feelings of this person’s past,
Will I ever find myself looking back,
Knowing what kind of life I lived?
When I woke up inside myself.
