Goats and Pigs Are Birds of a Feather – Beware the Tiger

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

As the Chinese year of the goat approaches let’s look at what that’s all about.

Chinese astrology is based on traditional astronomy and calendars. It dates back more than four thousand years, to the Yellow Emperor, the legendary Huang Ti.

Under his reign, astronomers created the sixty years Kia tseu cycle, made astronomical instruments, invented a calendar, and made a sphere.

The calendar begins in 2637 B.C., the year it was invented. This calendar designates years in cycles of 60.

The years in each cycle are named after 12 animals, in order they are the rat, ox, tiger, hare, dragon, snake, horse, sheep or goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

Unike the Solar based Western calendar, the Chinese calendar is based on the cycles of the moon.

The Chinese believe a person is born with the characteristics of that animal hiding in their heart, profoundly influencing their life and an astrological consultation is mainly reserved for the main events in life: birth, marriage, and death.

This brings us to the year of the goat.

People born under this sign are compatible with those born under the signs of pig (best), rabbit and horse. They should not marry those under the signs of tiger (worst) and rooster.

Goat people are artistic, delicate, and charming. As such, they attract friends and admirers.

On the other hand, they need to feel loved and protected, and shy away from conflict or confrontation.

They are dreamers, often pessimistic, hesitant, over-anxious, and obsessed with their appearance. They can also be bossy and lazy, but with their gentle and caring nature, it will be hard to resist the romantic sensitive, sweet goat person.

A goat person will make a good craftsman, artist or writer, and can confidently take up any career demanding artistic talents and creativity.

What sign were you born under?
