1. Catch the Bullet
The bullet trick may be considered as one of the most dangerous magic tricks known, at least to the untrained eye. The performance starts off with the magician shooting a gun through a glass held in the assistant’s mouth. To make the act more legitimate, someone from the audience is invited to mark the bullet before it’s used. The marked bullet is craftily placed into the assistant’s mouth while the magician puts on the protective gear and the gun has a bullet wax which melts upon firing and giving an appearance of the bullet piercing through the solid glass.
2. Statue of Liberty
David Copperfield had his American Audience astonished when in 1983 he pulled off the most remarkable trick of making the statue of liberty vanish into thin air. Later it was revealed that instead of moving the monument, Copperfield moved the audience set, which was placed on a two pillared platform against a backdrop of undefined landmarks. Through skilled showmanship and diversion, the platform is laterally shifted in an unnoticeable manner, the statue is placed facing one of the pillars with another set of lights in the new position. The process is reversed to make the statue reappear.
3. Truck Running Over Magician
Penn and Teller the performers of this death-defying trick were quick to explain the secret of this dramatic feat after performing it. The act involves the partner Teller who’s unprotected being run over by a truck driven by Penn. The secret behind this trick was there are counter-weights installed that balances the other side of the vehicle, that makes the side which runs over Teller, essentially feather-weight.
4. Walking on Water
Criss Angel, the famed magician and illusionist based in Las Vegas, captured the fascination of his audiences with his “walking on water” act performed on a hotel pool. This gravity-defying stunt has an elusive method that is followed to implement it. There are plexi-glass pillars placed below the water surface that is undetected by the naked eye (or a camera), thus making it appear Christ-like.
Magician Lance Burton introduced the iconic dove trick in the world-stage of magic. In his performance, what appears to be Burton turning fire into doves is in fact a sleight of hand with doves being hidden in the sleeves of the magician with little spring loaders that launch the birds in full display. It seems that skilled Handiwork and discretion is what it takes to perform this incredible trick.
6. Zig-Zag Lady
The Zig-Zag lady is one of the most imitated performances in the world. The trick appears to be splitting the assistant up into three divisions by a blade. In actuality, the assistant once inside laterally adjusts her body sideways, pulling in her stomach area. Through illusory projection of color blending and agility, the middle section is moved around the assistant, making the trick seem real.
7. Buzz Saw
Both David Copperfield and Penn & Teller have performed this infamous trick that have horrified some of their audiences. The performance opens with a seemingly large buzz saw slicing into the mid-section of one individual but in actuality involves the presence of two. One of them, the face of the act, is bent over into a table on one side, while the other person is folded the opposite way with their feet sticking upwards in the same kind of pants. So in actuality, no one is harmed in the act.
