No Butts About It

When Madelyn Sheaffer went to the Adventure Oasis Water Park in Independence, Missouri on Tuesday, the last thing she expected was that her bathing suit would cause a disturbance.
Sheaffer, 43, said after she got
into the pool with her niece and nephew, two teenage employees approached her
and told her to put on shorts because her bottoms were too small.

A supervisor backed up their decree
by saying she needed to cover up or leave the park. “I just felt like I was
singled out,”
Sheaffer told KSHB-TV. “I felt like
it was both age and body discrimination and I felt like I could look around me
and I could see a handful of other girls half my age, wearing the same size
swimming suit and not being singled out and told to put on clothes or leave.”

Sheaffer then asked that the water
park officials call the police to have her removed so that she could file a
complaint against the park. On her Facebook page,
she wrote that the officers who showed up sympathized with her plight: “We can’t actually say anything,” they said as we
walked outside, (as it is a city owned park), ..but I hope from the expressions
on our face you can tell how we feel,” They were compassionate. They too,
thought it was ridiculous.

Officials at the Adventure Oasis
Water Park had no comment about the incident preferring to have the
Independence, Mo., City Manager handle press inquiries since the park is on
city land. The City Manager was unavailable,
but an assistant said that “the facility made the call and we rely on
their judgment.”
I don’t get the impression this swimmer is worried about covering up.

What??? Aren’t exposes body parts the norm everywhere.  I think there is a right to bare arms…. and boobs and butts at the pool.

Most Devious Way to Knock Out the Competition Award

Everyone is against something.  This week there seems to be an effort in New Mexico to get people off their computers.

Officials have finally
identified the culprit behind a 20-hour Internet and cellphone outage last week
in northern New Mexico -an eager beaver.

CenturyLink spokesman David
Gonzales told The Associated Press on Friday that a hungry beaver chewed
through the fiber line last week. He says the biting evidence was discovered by
contractors who worked to repair the outage.

Officials say more than 1,800
Internet users were affected by the blackout. The number of cellphone users
without service during that time is still unknown.

CenturyLink owns a fiber-optic
cable that runs from Taos to Interstate 25.

I sense a conspiracy here.  Who said it was the beaver?

Best Maid of Honor Award

Jennifer Gabrielli
from Redondo Beach, Calif. boldly switched up the lyrics to Eminem’s “Without
Me” to deliver a rousing speech tailor made for her sister’s wedding.
The 24-year-old
bridesmaid threw a black sweatshirt over her blue bridesmaid’s gown and pumped
the hood up before belting out some sweet rhymes.
“Now this looks like
it’s meant to be, so everybody just toast with me. Raise your glasses if you’re
thirsty, ‘cause tonight we’re here to P-PAR-TEE,” Gabrielli said while the
camera panned towards a slightly shocked but smiling audience.
“I didn’t want to get up there and get nervous
and forget everything or start to cry,” the Maid of Honor told ABC News.
Gabrielli works as an
administrative assistant at a California university, but she’s been memorizing,
playing, and writing songs since her school days. So when her sister Nicole
decided to tie the knot with her fiance Blake, Gabrielli wanted to get
personal.
“All I intended to do
was to write about stuff that matters to us,” she said. “Towards the end I say,
‘I love you bigger than the sky,’ that’s something my parents and sister and I
always say to each other.”
And when her moment
came, Gabrielli walked right into it without any reservations, earning a
standing ovation from the 200 guests.

I am not a fan of rap but I followed enough of this to determine that this little sister is clever and sweet….OH and very brave. I am a veteran of corporate moves. Having moved 21 times while my husband climbed the corporate ladder while dragging me up… rung by rung over the course of our 40+ year marriage. I used to delude myself into thinking
that I was middle-age but now realize that I would have to live to be 116 to justify that term. If wisdom comes with age, I am wiser than some, older than many, and more cynical than most. My blog is to jot down the nonsense I
see, hear and think about while I still have all my faculties working.
