First woman candidate for Chairman of the Federal Reserve

“Federal Reserve Vice Chair Janet Yellen has emerged as the favorite to win the chairman’s job after former Treasury secretary Larry Summers withdrew his name from consideration Sunday.  If nominated by President Obama, and confirmed by the Senate, Yellen, 67, would replace Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, who is expected to step down in January. Obama is expected to nominate someone as soon as this month.”  USA Today

USA today went so far as to echo the conclusions of Palast’s  reporting in their analysis:

Liberals “were suspicious of his (Summer’s) role in Clinton-era financial deregulation — especially the decision barely to regulate financial derivatives at all. That loosed a monster called the credit-default swap that forced the $85 billion bailout of AIG five years ago this weekend, and nearly brought down all of Wall Street with it.” USA Today

But in the end, it was the seminal investigative reporting by Greg Palast in 2009 that ultimately forced Summers to withdraw as Bernanke’s replacement to the Federal Reserve.  This change in plans for the continuation of the “end-game” strategy of global bankruptcy is a major achievement to alternative media and to Pulitzer prize level reporting by the daunting Mr. Palast.
