My experience with an SSRI was extreme, so I would tell you to not take any chances with a new born. Also watch out for the development of new psychological issues in yourself, nearly every person I have known that has taken an antidepressant for any length of time develops new psychological problems and usually psychotic symptoms. When it happens your dr. will tell you it’s not caused by the antidepressant but that’s only becuase they know absolutely nothing about how they work. I had things like a resting heart rate of 120, extreme fluctuations in blood pressure, hallucinations, dilated pupils, and during withdrawal a detached retina. Even though most of these started on day 3 every time I complained the dose was increased. I went to see a neurologist earlier this year and overheard him instructing his partner not to give me a diagnosis until the statute of limitations for medical liability is up, but it wouldn’t matter anyway no lawyer will take my case free of charge and becuase of this experience I no longer have a job so I can’t pay one. I forgot to mention psychotic symptoms they haven’t gone away for me yet, and I’ll probably never be able to work again. All of this for a drug with no side effects, and no risk of addiction that was suppose to just take the edge off. If you can live without it get as far away from it as possible SSRI’s are extremely addictive at least it was for me my withdrawal mimicked alcohol DT’s including seizures and lasted more than a year. Dr’s know nothing about how they work, everything known is subjective opinion from the trial phase meaning all that is known is that a percentage of people reported feeling better on them.
