New Map Shows America After All World Ice Melts And Sea Level Rises 216 Feet

% of readers think this story is Fact. Add your two cents.

National Geographic has released a new interactive map that will let you explore the world’s new coastlines if sea level rises 216 feet.

The maps  show the world as it is now, with only one difference: All the ice on land has melted and drained into the sea, raising it 216 feet and creating new shorelines for our continents and inland seas.

“There are more than five million cubic miles of ice on Earth, and some scientists say it would take more than 5,000 years to melt it all. If we continue adding carbon to the atmosphere, we’ll very likely create an ice-free planet, with an average temperature of perhaps 80 degrees Fahrenheit instead of the current 58,” according to National Geographic.

A major problem will be the loss of many of the big city’s that are very close to sea level.

The logical approach is build a few nuclear desalnization plants & irrigate the hell out of Africa. The more you irrigate the more the underground aquifers are filled up. If the rivers aren’t already irrigated enough then that would be another way to help keep water returning to the oceans. I believe worldwide irrigation is the reason we haven’t already seen rising sea levels.

I’m also wondering if they ever develop a cheap way to transport water into space (space elevator) if we couldn’t just transport it to Mars or leave it circling earth if we need it. Not sure how water behaves in space, but it is a thought. Maybe build some supertankers in space or some kind of system for pushing the mass through space. Maybe even a water cannon to just fire it at Mars adjusting for their orbit. That would be awesome if it could work like that.

NatGeo idiots. Their maps assume an even distribution of temperature regardless of latitude. They ignore how land rises when thick ice melts thus the shoreline won’t intrude as far as they claim. They ignore how winds are affected, or how aquifers will refill with water. A recent report said 1/4th of all ocean rising was from net loss from aquifers.

They assume human population continues to increase and still use fossil fuels in the same way. They assume rising temps don’t increase plant growth and thus absorption of CO2.

The map is a political statement, not a scientific one.

UN Gaia-worshiping climate propaganda being parroted by National Geographic.

I agree with your assessment of the article.

    • AMERICA MUST BURN FOR MAKING WARS

Stupid Americans. Sea levels cannot rise.

    • Ericzipp

This assumes that the one part per 2,500 of CO2 in the atmosphere has anything to do with the temperature increase of the late 80′s early 90′s. Since which the temperatures have leveled out but CO2 has increased.

Don’t buy into this global warming B.S. It is a hoax that is designed to control the masses and take their money!

Total imposability for complete ice melt without the sun increasing output by 20%. The poles are the furthest from the sun and would always be the coldest and have ice.

      Great post!
I find nothing wrong with National Geographic’s stand, and think that it is more valid
than folks that have not studied the environment.

Is this before or after the great lakes flowing into the Mexico Gulf (Cayce and Branham)
Is this before or after a mini ice age coming (Gulf Stream has reversed)
Is this before or after our sun “going bronze” (presage Jan 3 1555)

it will not happen. who believes this stuff?

Whoever made this post changed the original title of the article perhaps to fit their apocalyptic view..

This is the title of the National Geographic article.

        IF ALL THE ICE MELTED

What would happen to Japan? Would Fukoshima be under tons of water?

    • Diogenes

Cool! A map that might be useful in a couple/few thousand years!

    • Mayhem

Given the current climate trend it would be more pertinent to discuss falling Ocean levels and what does rising CO2 have to do with climate change?

Despite unchanging CO2 increases the temperatures have been falling for nearly two decades. Further more i can put up a very strong argument that it is cooler now than it has been for most of the last ten thousand years.

Just so you know, i’ll be using the same data that Al Gore cherry picked and subsequently allowed an artist to perform the extrapolation that said “warming till doom”.

    • R.S. Helms

It is also proven fact that National Geographic is a liberal Pseudo Science pusher of “science based” facts, and some of their science is as phony as Al Gore.

      • Ghost

Please furnish us with that ‘PROVEN FACT’ that you claim exists..

I for one will write to Nat Geo and show the that evidence and get their response..

If no proven fact… are you a LIAR?

    • Anonymous

      But global warming isn’t happening.

    • Anonymous

Stop with the carbon crap. If they invented a vacuum cleaner to suck all the carbon out a volcano would put it all back! Global warming is a hoax! Just like every other BS theory or war starter. War on terror my arse! War on drugs my arse! Hey, I bet if all the liberal, progressive flat earth people were summarily executed, the world be an awesome place!

    • Anonymous

Yeah ….. well Al Gore bought a multi-million dollar MANSION just 9 feet above CURRENT sea level ….. so HE does not believe this Donkey Doo ….
Just more FEARNOGRAPHY from Low-Lifes that PROFIT off of scaring people.

I would prefer solar, as in direct heating with solar concentrating curved mirrors and tubes. Africa has plenty of sunshine and unlike nuclear, the risks environmentally are about zero. By the way, direct solar heating of salts is a method of storing heat energy after the sun goes down to produce steam to run a turbine. So you could have desalination as well as electrical power generation to run the plant 24/7 with no nuclear and no storage batteries.

    • Wirkbot

This was in response to the suggestion of nuclear powered desalination.
