Noxious Chemical In the Water Supply from a Company that Officially came into existence on 12.31.2013 + 1.14.2014 Update

Freedom Industries is the product of a merger that combined the Etowah River Terminal, which is where the leak occurred, Crete Technologies, and Poca Blending in a nearby town called Nitro (?)

Bloomberg news (click here) article provides insight as to the quirky nature of the companies emergence, and connections to the terminal, which had an accident of serious consequences, all within the first week of work

That is probably a record, or an unfortunate set of circumstances that affected over a hundred thousand residents, and demonstrated how something like this could have been prevented, somewhere along the way from inspection for sale, or per regulations

There are allegations that the previous CEO’s ties to political spokesman, and because of the serious nature of the accident, this and other information will be revealed

This is a lesson for other communities, inspectors and Government to priortize potential hazards for inspection, because this example demonstrates the ability to affect an entire region, and even if the system is backflushed and declared safe

People will have to depend upon the same personnel, to watch out for their interests and to accept their word that it is safe

Could it have other possibilities, or could it be something that is indicative of something else? No one can say, although there will be someone from that community that will probably search for the answers and learn something else.

The project research includes information that will be included in reports, especially when the potential for harm exists, and the chemical compounds that they hope to purge from the system require oxygen to dissipate, because the viscosity of the water acts as a barrier for evaporation

npr has reported that the compounds toxicity and affect on the environment are not well known, and the chemical is called 4-methyl-cyclohexane-methanol, or MCHM, and most chemists and toxicologists, nor the water company, or the emergency responders in West Virginia, just a mile and a half upstream from the intake for the region’s drinking-water plant had heard of it

1.14.2014 Update

This is from RT news which indicates that some sections of the region have been advised that their water is safe, with minimal precautions. which would be difficult for many of the residents to accept assurances when the close proximity of the tank, the one week of the company coming into ownership, and many other factors that should be interesting, but this unknown or rare chemical is the question and the concern for the potential long range effects, and how a newly formed company will implement solutions and the costs that the region and its residents endured
