This is nothing other-worldly! It’s a Gorgonocephalus, which is a genus of marine basket stars in the class Ophiuroidea.

Nothing more. Very common in cold, deep waters.

      Carry on!

        Thank you CS!
I guess they don’t teach biology in the schools anymore, particularly Marine Biology… It is clear too, that people don’t read much about various fields of biology…
I remember seeing this for the first time in biology class back in the 60′s… But beck then we were TAUGHT…
There are some truly amazing life forms in our oceans… Basket stars are one of them… I hope that star made it to a high quality public aquarium, so it can be seen and appreciated by many…

Poor little ugly sea creature. They should have left it where it was. There are all kinds of things down there that will never be discovered. 80% of the ocean will never be explored by man. It is so deep that even man’s most technologically advanced submersibles can’t tolerate the water pressure. You would be amazed at what’s going on way down there, but humans will never know.

He did? Hmm.. Sorry, Jeffry, didn’t see yours..

As to the rest of the comments, I hadn’t seen it before and I thought it was creepy and alien, not necessary the space alien variety, but more an alien entity, of unknown origins..

Old news? Have you took a good look around here??
