On the road to victory

‘Here’ is Kettering University in Flint town car – Michael Moore’s hometown and one of the State of Michigan’s hardest hit during the financial crisis.

And it is also one of the Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney’s last stop before Michigan’s primary election Tuesday.

According to recent opinion polls leads Romney slightly above its more traditionally conservative opponent Rick Santorum, who come to Flint later that afternoon. And the winner of the primary election is an important step closer to being the Republican candidate against official when Barack Obama’s job is at stake in the presidential election 6th November.

And Brenda and Ken have no doubt about who the man should be.

- We are 100 percent against Obama’s policies. And we know that we belong to a minority. A few weeks ago we attended actually an anti-Obama demonstration. Many thought we had gone wrong. And we ended up in several national media, says Ken Jordan and smiles slightly at the memory. But there is really behind the smile.

On the way towards the abyss

Like Mitt Romney believes Ken and Brenda Jordan namely that the U.S. is heading towards the abyss.

- It is indeed time for a change of government. Obama has done his best to ruin our country. And we will be in the front row when Mitt Romney takes his place in the White House.

Primary Election

Before the presidential election 6 November, the Republicans choose a candidate who must stand against Barack Obama.

Tuesday 6 March, the so-called ‘Super Tuesday’, it is extremely important that each candidate is doing well. Super Tuesday is in fact the day when most U.S. states hold primary elections. The candidate who gets the most votes, is thus the closest to winning the primary election, thus becoming the presidential candidate of the party.

FACT CHECK: DOES GEORGE SOROS OWN AN OVERSEAS COMPANY THAT WILL COUNT U.S. VOTES?
Before you read this article, as a disclaimer, we wanted to point out that we don’t consider SNOPES to be the most reliable source of information. We do how

ever, trust the research put forth by Michelle Malkin and her team. Since this relationship with George Soros and SCYTL is one of the most frequently asked about issues on our page, we thought we should share this up to date information.
Does a major Obama donor own an overseas company that will control the U.S.’s entire vote-counting system? The simple answer: No. But let’s expand on this because, obviously, it would be highly disturbing (to say the very least) if it were true.

The claim goes something like this [as noted by Snopes]:

The Obama administration has sold the processing rights of our votes in the general election to a company from Spain (SCYTL) It will no longer be possible to track and verify our votes. The CEO of the company donated the maximum amount to Obamas’ 2008 campaign.
And, according to similar emails, Scytl has strong ties to billionaire currency speculator, liberal activist, and Democrat donor George Soros (looks legit, right?):

Follow the bouncing ball on the criminal corruption ruse of your USA votes.

1.) The Obama Government has outsourced the counting of votes for the 2012 election. But since WHEN does the nation need to outsource a task as uncomplicated and straightforward as vote-counting?

2.) Obama outsourced the counting to a Tampa Florida company, named SOE, that had previously been used to administer the vote counting process for over 500 American jurisdictions.

3.) But recently, SOE software has now been sold to a company named SCYTL, owned by George Soros, headquartered in Spain.

4.) The votes will go to SCYTL, the question becomes as to WHY Must local votes for each precinct will be downloaded to SCYTLs main server leaving no TRACEABLE record of how many, and what votes were scored! Which of course means that said votes will be MERGED; and any discrepancies at lower levels will be IMPOSSIBLE to track.

5.) But wait, it gets murkier: SCYTL is shadow owned by Pere Valles, a former CEO of Global Net; who just HAPPENS to have been a maximum level contributor to the Obama Campaign in 2008. Not surprisingly, Valles is also has contacts with Media Matters, a communication consortium owned by: George Soros.

6.) Now the bad news: according to the Black Box voting site, this centralizes one middleman access point for over 525 voting jurisdictions: (AL, AZ, CA, CO, DC, FL, KY, MI, KS, IL, IN, NC, NM, MN, NY, SC, TX, UT, WA. and growing).

Now before you batten down the hatches and start freaking out, let’s dig a little deeper. Snopes and conservative authoress Michelle Malkin make quick work of the rumor and thoroughly debunks this mess. From Snopes:

The Obama administration could not possibly have “sold the processing rights of our votes in the general election” to Scytl, as the federal government does not run elections: individual states do. It’s up to each state to determine on its own how to conduct its elections and what voting systems to use.

Moreover, it’s highly unlikely any states will be choosing to use systems like Scytl’s to implement online voting on anything more than a very limited basis in the 2012 general election. Scytl’s current list of customers includes only four U.S. states plus the District of Columbia, all of whom have so far limited their use of Scytl systems to providing a means for overseas (i.e., military and absentee) voters to cast their ballots remotely.

The Snopes analysis goes on to cite an article from Discovery News which notes that even on the rare occasion when online voting was used, it failed to work in some cases and those systems will not be revisited in 2012. The analysis also adds:

(SOE software does have a more expansive roster of U.S. customers, but their products are aimed at providing ancillary services to local governments such as helping constituents communicate with government offices or displaying election results, not systems to record and tabulate votes.)
Malkin notes that, contrary to what the emails claim, Scytl’s acquisition of SOE software does not equal a vote-counting takeover:

While SOE boasts of a presence “with 900 jurisdictions as customers in 26 states,” there is no single contract that the federal government has entered into, or could, with Scytl to count the 2012 presidential election votes. Much of the work Scytl/SOE analysts do is number-crunching and graphics software work after local and state officials have done the vote-counting.

Scytl does have a contract with the feds to use its technology to help overseas and military voters participate in elections. In 2009, the Military and Overseas Voter Empowerment Act mandated that U.S. jurisdictions allow uniformed and overseas citizens to receive and track their ballots electronically. Scytl’s online ballot program was used in 14 states during the 2010 midterms.
Okay, nothing there. What’s the next point? From Snopes:

The security and auditability of online voting systems remains a subject of debate, which, as noted above, makes it quite improbable there will be any statewide (much less nationwide) use of systems like Scytl’s in tabulating votes for the 2012 presidential election.
Snopes’ analysis goes on to highlight an article by Steve Wildstrom, writing in Tech.pinions, which clearly outlines the security difficulties in implementing these types of systems. And Wildstrom isn’t alone. A whole host of experts in electronic security industry agree that no type of system will be put in place in the U.S. any time soon.

But here’s where it get really good. Snopes takes a look at Scytl’s CEO Pere Vallés and his supposed connections to the Democrat Party:

Despite claims that Pere Vallés “donated heavily to the 2008 Obama campaign,” a search of all donors to the 2008 presidential campaign of Barack Obama does not turn up a contribution (of any size) from anyone with that name.
And, of course, there’s the fact that there’s “no evidence supporting the common rumor that financier George Soros holds an ownership stake in Scytl.”

Indeed, Scytl’s investors are Nauta Capital, Balderton Capital, and Spinnaker SCR.

“Soros doesn’t ‘own’ any of these international venture capital firms — and as far as my research shows, he has no involvement whatsoever with any of them,” Malkin writes.

“Moreover, Scytl’s board of directors doesn’t include anyone with Soros financial or management ties. Pressed for evidence, one Internet conspiracy nut cited an ‘invitation only event’ in Moldova that listed both the ‘Soros Foundation Moldova’ and Scytl as attendees,” she adds.

Okay, let’s recap: We’re supposed to believe that the election is being stolen by a Sores-connected company run by a shady Democrat CEO, right? Well, aside from the fact that the company has no ties to Soros and the CEO has no record of ever contributing money to President Obama (as the emails claim), why not?

Bottom Line: The Soros-Obama vote-counting rumor is factually inaccurate on every count and there is literally (as Vice President Joe Biden would say) nothing to back up this claim.

We understand Soros’ influence with the Democrat Party runs extraordinarily deep. We get that. But before we start accusing people of rigging elections, we need to have at least a shred of evidence.

“Soros has enough explicit ties to President Obama’s administration and campaign without having to embellish them,” Malkin notes.

So, rest easy, folks.

I will be voting for Mitt Romney for the Republican nomination for President of the United States. I wanted to share why I have decided to publicly endorse and vote for Mitt Romney. There are four primary reasons for my support:

ONE: He is a strong leader & has a vision to make America strong & prosperous.

TWO: He is uniquely qualified to serve as President – no one is better prepared.

THREE: He can beat Barack Obama in November, early polls showing his strength.

FOUR: Mitt Romney will make Michigan competitive for Republicans in 2012 on the day he wins the nomination.

I have watched the nominating process unfold and as I have said over and over again, there is NOTHING more important for our country and our children than stopping Barack Obama and his policies.

To paraphrase William F. Buckley, I think now, more than ever, it makes sense to support the most conservative candidate who can win…Mitt Romney is that candidate and now is the time to start rallying our forces.

There are several other candidates who have offered a compelling alternative to Barack Obama and his policies. There are more that have come and gone and for one reason or another are NOT in a position to challenge the President this fall.

However, this election is so important and the task at hand so daunting I believe only the strongest, best organized, best financed and best prepared candidate can effectively challenge Barack Obama this fall across our entire country.

Romney’s focus on job creation combined with his Michigan roots and ability to relate to the hopes and dreams of native Michiganders make him Mark Brewer’s worse nightmare.

The most pressing issue facing Michigan and America is JOBS and our economy. No other candidate has the knowledge and experience creating jobs and turning things around. You can look at Mitt’s experience in turning around the Olympics, putting Massachusetts on a strong economic footing while cutting taxes 19 times and his lifetime career in the private sector.

So this coming Tuesday we have a choice as to who will be our Republican nominee?!?

Rick Santorum and his allies are making claims that somehow his policies will be “more” conservative then Mitt Romney’s if elected President. Let us put a few facts on the table.

FACT:

Romney and Santorum BOTH support reducing federal spending over a phased in period and moving towards a Balanced Budget.

Romney and Santorum BOTH support repealing Obamacare.

Romney and Santorum BOTH support a flatter tax with lower rates.

Romney and Santorum BOTH support traditional marriage.

Romney and Santorum BOTH support pro-life agenda that includes overturning Roe vs Wade.

Romney and Santorum BOTH support Right to Work legislation, although Santorum voted against it.

Romney and Santorum BOTH support a strong defense policy.

Romney and Santorum BOTH support the 2nd Amendment and don’t believe there is a need for additional gun control laws to be passed.

Romney and Santorum BOTH support eliminating and reducing burdensome regulations to help create jobs!

So what’s the difference?

FACT:

Santorum voted to increase the deficit by TRILLIONS of dollars FIVE separate times.

Santorum eagerly and proudly supports “earmarks” in deficit spending bills.

Santorum voted for federal bailouts for the Salt Lake Olympics and Airline industry.

Santorum voted to federally fund the ‘Bridge to Nowhere’ and a ‘Tea Pot Museum’ amongst others.

Santorum voted for the largest expansion of federal government entitlement in our history supporting the UNFUNDED Medicare Prescription D program.

Santorum voted to confirm now Supreme Court Justice Sotomeyer to the federal bench.

Santorum endorsed party switcher and liberal Arlen Specter for the U.S. Senate.

Santorum has spent most of his career in Washington DC – 16 years in Congress and then as a corporate lobbyist. Santorum has truly become a creature of Washington DC…not of change.

Michigan clearly wants leadership with private sector experience because government has demonstrated they don’t have all the answers. America needs someone who gets it, who’s been there and done that, someone to help restore America’s confidence and greatness. We need something more than another career politician because it’s career politicians have gotten us into this mess and they aren’t going to get us out. Mitt is a conservative businessman and that’s the experience he will bring to the White House to turn our economy around.

To put it succinctly, with 25 years of experience in the private sector, Mitt Romney knows how our economy works and how to implement pro-growth policies that will produce jobs. Mitt is clearly the strongest candidate to take on President Obama and he has the skills needed to rein in spending, control our exploding deficits and bring fiscal sanity back to Washington.

Mitt Romney has taken a common sense conservative approach on issue after issue. From creating the right environment for job creation, to cutting taxes, support for a strong defense – his positions are sound. So, while some question his position as Governor on healthcare, we need to remember he was able to create their state’s program without raising taxes and by implementing a free-market plan, not a government plan. I believe that difference will be a strong issue for us when taking on Obama. He has also been clear that it was a state approach, which may not work in other states. That is why the issue should be addressed at the state level, not the federal level. And he is 100% clear on this: as President he will REPEAL Obamacare, and on day one will give all 50 states waivers from complying with Obamacare.

In the end, our goal is to put America back on the right track. We need to do whatever it takes to win this election and stop the dangerous policies of Barack Obama and his allies in the Democratic Party. They have put our country in a tenuous position economically, abroad and in my opinion – challenged the fundamental constitutional tenants of our limited republican form of government.

As the Detroit News said in their endorsement: “Mitt Romney stands alone among the Republican primary field as the candidate capable of winning the White House, and more importantly, of leading the nation to a prosperous future.”

Elections are about choices. And the stakes for our country are too high to ignore and/or just sit on our hands.

I firmly believe that Governor Mitt Romney is the right man, at the right time to step up and serve our country. As with every candidate, there will be things I don’t necessarily agree with or may have done differently myself. However, the ultimate test comes in the comparison to Barack Obama, his policies and Romney’s ability to offer our country a viable alternate.

Romney is tested, he’s ready, he’s committed and he is best prepared for the challenge ahead. I urge you to join me in voting for Mitt Romney to be our next President of the United States of America!

Last Thursday, charged union protests met Michigan Freedom to Work’s new drive to enact a state right-to-work law. Here, unions again used the politics of fear to achieve their ends. But these tactics, while seemingly effective, distort reality and confuse level-headed thinking. Unions must stop their politicking and join right-to-work supporters in a civil dialogue about how best to promote worker’s interest.
Union supporters and right-to-work supporters do agree on the problem: Michigan workers find it increasingly hard to find good paying jobs. But each side disagrees on who is responsible for creating this economic mess. Union supporters believe big business outsourced jobs to other states and countries to benefit their bottom line. Right-to-work supporters counter that unions bargained for unwarranted higher wages and drove companies to move jobs to states and countries where wages were more competitive.
As a result, each side presents different solutions. Union supporters believe unions helped workers with their past problems and can help them again today. Right-to-work supporters believe the path forward lies not in antiquated union structures, but in empowering individual worker choice.
But the tone of each side’s rhetoric determines who holds the high ground in the debate. Michigan Freedom to Work spent Thursday peacefully engaging the public with their ideas. They presented their perception of the problem, its proper solution, and the impediments to change. However, union supporters responded with loud interruptions and cat calls, shouting things like “It’s not unions fault,” “You are just corporate puppets,” and “Right-to-work states are not worker friendly.” These overtones possess a decidedly emotional edge different from right-to-work supporters’ controlled tone; an edge undergirded by fear
Emotions like these cloud judgment and prevent many in the labor movement from honestly engaging with the facts and with others who are sympathetic to their cause. The facts do not lie: unions caused much of Michigan’s economic mess and it is unions who prevent movement towards a sustainable future. Right-to-work supporters do not seek to abolish unions or attack workers. They simply ask that workers be allowed the chance to choose who they think best represents their interests, knowing this to be the best way to benefit workers. In this regard, right-to-work can actually be an ally in bringing about the change workers desire. Any further attempts by union supporters to attack these positions with emotionally charged degradations will only continue to delegitimize their standing in the labor debate. Right-to-work supporters have entered the labor debate seeking to teach a new perspective and to learn from their opponents. They want to enter into a civil dialogue with workers, unions and the state about how best to improve Michigan’s economy. Union supporters must join right-to-work supporters at this table free from their fear politics and prejudices. This is the only way for Michigan workers to move forward.

Here is another great Obama success story using our taxpayer dollars. Isn’t it just wonderful when the Government and the Union are making the decisions in running an Auto company. They can do anything when they have unlimited access to the taxpayer dollar well to dip into non-stop. General Motors reached another Obama milestone when they announced late on a Friday afternoon that they were suspending production of the Obama-inspired Chevy Volt for five weeks due to lack of demand.
Presumably the Volt was an attempt by GM to help Obama with his pledge to put 1 million electric cars on the road in return for the tens of billions of dollars in forgivable “loans” that the company got from the Obama administration from the TARP bailout.
The hybrid gas-electric vehicle gets 25 miles on a full, overnight charge and costs around $40,000. To date, GM has sold around 10,000 vehicles. To put it in perspective, the Chevy Corvette has a sticker price of $49,600.
If the Volt’s not in the federal witness protection program, it ought to be.
“Sales also took a hit last fall when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a probe into why two Volts burst into flames days or weeks after severe NHTSA crash testing,” reports USA Today. Leaks from the cooling system were caused by shortages in the electrical system that prompted the fires. But the discovery came only after weeks of bad press for GM. Eventually the car company offered to buy back every single Volt for any consumer who was unhappy.
But lack of sales- and production- hasn’t stopped the government-owned car company from mapping out a marketing strategy that might have been fashioned by the marketing geniuses of the IRS and the United States Postal Service combined: “The Volt’s technology and its recent accolade from Consumer Reports make the Volt a marketing tool for Chevy,” said Alan Batey, vice president for Chevrolet U.S. sales, at the beginning of December according to Bloomberg. “This vehicle is about more than how many we sell,” Batey said. “This vehicle is a magnet around everything we are trying to do to showcase our brand.”
If that’s the case, it looks like a poor magnet and a poor tool. And taxpayers, who are still owed billions by the company, are about to get screwed even worse in the coming months.
The website ExtremeTech calculates that the car costs about 6.3 cents per mile when running on electricity at 13 cents per kilowatt hour. But that rate ignores depreciating the cost of a replacement battery ($8,000) over the life of the battery warranty.
When you add in the cost of the battery depreciation, you get a calculation of about 14.3 cents per mile for the Volt. As the tech site notes: “A compact car getting 35 mpg would cost 10 cents per mile using $3.50-a-gallon gasoline.” So in other words, the Volt, in addition to the high cost to purchase, costs 43% more to operate than a conventional car.
That’s why the Volt is the perfect car for the Occupy Wall Street crowd: It makes no economic sense no matter how convoluted its supporters make the economic argument or how much taxpayer support it’s given. The Volt relied heavily on $7,500 federal government subsidies- and even then couldn’t make a go of it.
As one economist pointed out in the USA Today:
“The fact that GM is now facing an oversupply of Volts suggests that consumer demand is just not that strong for these vehicles,” comments Dr. Lacey Plache, chief economist for auto research site Edmunds.com. “The price premium on the Volt just doesn’t make economic sense for the average consumer when there are so many fuel-efficient gasoline-powered cars available, typically for thousands of dollars less.”
Even GM employees aren’t buying them: Eldon Renaud, president of United Auto Workers Local 2164 at the Bowling Green, Kentucky plant noted that his members were going “to use their [$7,000] profit sharing checks to put a down payment on the” Corvettes they manufacture.
Conversely, what does it tell you when GM won’t see a bump in production on a model they sell less than 2,000 of during a month when they pay record $7,000 bonuses to 47,500 workers?
USA Today goes on to point out that the Volt’s “average buyer has a $170,000 household income and doesn’t need to have a new-
