Video - AK-47-Wielding Gunman Fires 37 Times At Shocked Cops During Routine Traffic Stop

Terrifying dash-cam footage captures the moment a crazed motorist opened fire with an AK-47 rifle at police officers who had just pulled him over for a minor traffic violation in Middlefield, Ohio.
James Gilkerson, 42, exited his parked car and then fired 37 shots at the officers and their patrol car, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported. Officers Erin Thomas and Brandon Savage returned fire, killing Gilkerson.
Police have no idea why Gilkerson opened fire.
“He got of the vehicle, intending to kill my officers. We don’t know why he did it,” said Middlefield Police Chief Arnold Stanko. “He was a scumbag, and a terrorist, and he’s dead.”

You just never know if the cops are going to kill you for “officer safety” so it’s not surprising someone would shoot first. He was a really bad shot though.
Either the guy was a bad shot, or he didn’t want to kill the cops and just be killed by “suicide by cop”. An AK 47 firing 37 round at closed range, would have turned the cops into hamburger meat.

Death by cop…. However, these days you can’t trust that the type of weapon used was really an AK-47 or other “assault weapon”, unfortunately. The freedom-haters and the ignorant will stoop to some pretty low lows and lie through their teeth in order to disarm the public and help criminals gain control. Now, I’m not sure if it’s just my monitor’s resolution, but that looked like a handgun…
For anybody still not sure that this was an AK-47 (or some variant thereof), you can clearly see in many points in the video a rifle sling as the man shoots at the officers. Then at :44 in the video as the man is stumbling to the ground, we can see the distinctive curved magazine on the weapon, clearly identifying it as an AK. That said, it was not the militarized fully automatic version. He was clearly pulling the trigger for each round fired.
In the same amount of time, he could have done more damage with a pump shotgun loaded with double-ought rounds, or, if skillful enough, with a 6-shot revolver. They were extremely lucky that there were two of them to fire back and that this guy clearly had a death wish, exposing himself the way he did to return fire. Bad as this was, had he taken cover they could have been faced with an even worse situation.
This is why the Plain Dealer is losing readers. An AK-47′s magazine only holds 30 rounds (the most popular, there are 50 round mags, and 75 round mags, but the vast majority are 30 rounds).

The video has been taken down, but the still image is there & it appears that he is using a pistol & not an AK-47.
It would take skill to miss that many times with an ak, this was probably a case of suicide by cop.
