Seems Like You're Ready

This past weekend I prayed about something that I wanted to come to pass. The ironic thing was that the potential for it to be answered actually did happen. But there was one small problem. I wasn’t prepared for it to happen. My thoughts were on the end result and it totally slipped my mind for me to do my part to make everything fall into place. All I could see was the starting mark and the finish line, but not actually being prepared to run the race. How many times do we find ourselves in this situation? We ask and beg and plead for certain things to happen, but we don’t do what’s necessary to turn our desires into reality.

I had to laugh at myself and chalk up my mistake as a learning experience to take with me going forward. It wasn’t the end of the world or anything major, but I did miss out on an opportunity because of it. Will it come again? Hopefully so if it was really meant to be, but only time will tell. But one thing is for sure….I will be ready next time. Often times we can mistake “being ready” for the celebration after it’s all said and done. Sure it feels great to accomplish a goal or finally get that one thing we’ve been praying for. But did we really do all we could to make sure we could handle it? The more we receive, that also means the more we are responsible for. As the old saying goes, easy come easy go. Have you ever noticed that the things we spend the time preparing for and then succeeding in, we actually hold on to longer than the things that were just given to us? I know I do.
