Joe's Doubleback Evolution

He doesn’t have the keys to your sexual ignition like R. Kelly. He can’t dance quite as smooth as Usher. He’s not a legendary icon like the late Luther Vandross. But he’s one of the best male voices in R & B…..Joe. With the exception of a few mainstream hits, “The Things Your Man Won’t Do,” “Don’t Wanna Be A Player” and “I Wanna Know”, he has quietly remained on the music scene for 15 years strong. Yet he still hasn’t gotten the recognition he deserves. In some cases, artists don’t get the spotlight because their talent proves they should stay behind the curtains. But this definitely isn’t the case for Joe. He effortlessly proves that on his new release,Doubleback: Evolution of R & B.

I’ll be the first to admit that I have no idea how Doubleback became the title of his CD, but it’s the music that counts, right? The CD opens strong with a slow jam with a hard bass knock that puts Frankie Beverly and Maize to shame with “Something For You”.  The drums, horns and swing out feel of this song will make you want to hit repeat and get on the dance floor. And that’s just the beginning. “Easy” is a testimonial about how love takes work…..but tonight, he wants to make love easy. This one has a catchy groove and he sneaks in some kinky bedroom lines too (“I love the way your nails make circles/In the small of my back).
