There are no more details about the sacking of Major General Michael Carey. He was in charge of the 20th Air Force, which keeps on-alert American inter-continental ballistic missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Only two days ago, the U-S Navy demoted Vice Admiral Tim Giardina over illegal gambling activities. The 57-year-old, three-star navy officer was deputy commander of U-S Strategic Command, STRAT-COM. The command oversees all U-S nuclear forces from its headquarters near Omaha, Nebraska. The military’s nuclear command has come under fire in recent years over a number of scandals and failed inspections.
