Martial Law Declared In Ferguson, MO
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has declared a state of emergency and has implemented a curfew in Ferguson. According to ABC News “Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon today announced today that he was declaring a state of emergency and a curfew in Ferguson, where peaceful demonstrations about the police shooting of an unarmed man have been marred by nights of looting.”

Curfew and martial law are not the same.
What’s the difference? Other than the police shooting on site or shooting once they have you contained?
In this instance, as for as we know, no one has been shot after being detained. In fact it would appear that the police are not doing anything to contain some that believe that looting is the way to get justice. I would hope that people would realize that getting a looter off the street is very important to the economic health of this community. Arrest them or keep them of the streets in other ways. Martial law requires many steps to implement. Curfews have been used many times to prevent violent behavior from escaping into the community.
