I have also experimented with low cost, emergency alternatives to electric or gas heat, such as a clay pot, candle heater.


Here is the ensemble from the outside. The pen is so you can get an idea of the size.

Two, three or four tea light candles is more than enough.

So, while this little contraption won’t heat my whole house (not even close), it did chase the chill out of my bathroom, when I used it as the sole source of heat. I couldn’t tell you anything about temps. There are several YouTube videos that you can watch to learn all the ins and outs of these heaters. Just search for candle heater in YouTube.

I usually get a package of 125 tea candles from Amazon.
