Riusuke Fukahori had reached a low point in his career in 2000, when he suddenly became fascinated by his goldfish—which despite being neglected for seven years were still alive. He calls this incident “Goldfish Salvation.”

For his unique style of painting, Riusuke uses acrylic on clear resin which he pours into containers, resulting in a three-dimensional appearance and lifelike vitality.
The fish are painted meticulously, layer by layer, with the sandwiched slices revealing slightly more about each creature, similar to how a 3D printer works.
