Face It: Anti-Semitism is Fully Satanic, Pt 3

Theology and Politics from a Conservative, Biblical Perspective

Uh oh…looks like Haman has been caught in his own lies and hatred.

As we noted in the first two parts of this series – here and here – Satan hates Israel and the Jewish people with a passion because it was through Israel that the Savior/Messiah was born into the world. We also discussed the fact that Revelation 12 provides us with a very specific, albeit brief, look at the inception and history (into the future) of the nation of Israel, how it can to be and the purposes for which God created and has used that nation.

The fact that anyone can benefit from the nation of Israel in the realm of salvation is something that is a constant point of contention for Satan. He has lost and he knows it. He is personally irredeemable and he understands that. The fact that God would do what He did for human beings, individuals far below the power and (lost) majesty of Satan is beyond his ability to comprehend. Because Israel and the Jewish people were used in the process of redemption is the main reason he hates them so.

The fact that this situation exists and that Satan can do nothing to change it is proof of Paul’s words that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places,” (Ephesians 6:12).

Satan works from within his own realm (another dimension as far as we are concerned) to provoke human beings to carry on and even multiply his hatred of the Jewish people and the nation of Israel. The fact that Hitler attempted to destroy all Jews even before the nation of Israel was reborn in 1948 tells us that Satan’s hatred can move mountains. But of course, this was not the first time one man singled out the Jewish people and deliberately attempted to eliminate them as a people.

The book of Esther in the Old Testament tells us of another man who also wanted to kill every last Jewish person he could find. His name was Haman and in Esther 3, we learn of his plot to destroy the Jews. It started off with one little slight in which Haman took offense because a Jewish man by the name of Mordecai refused to bow down to him.

“After these events King Ahasuerus promoted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him and established his authority over all the princes who were with him. 2 All the king’s servants who were at the king’s gate bowed down and paid homage to Haman; for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai neither bowed down nor paid homage,” (Esther 3:1-2)

Of course, people were aghast at Mordecai’s obvious lack of respect. Haman was one of those guys who wormed his way into politics and then used his lower position to gain a higher position. Once he achieved that, he believed that people should bow in his presence. Haman was not the king, however, he thought he should be deferred to as though he were the king. We learn in Esther 3:4 that Haman was “a Jew.” Then we learn how Haman reacts when he learns that “a Jew” failed to honor him the way he felt he should be honored.

“When Haman saw that Mordecai neither bowed down nor paid homage to him, Haman was filled with rage. 6 But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone, for they had told him who the people of Mordecai were; therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews, the people of Mordecai, who were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus,” (Esther 3:5-6).

Mordecai fails to bow or pay homage to Haman. He at once is “filled with rage.” But he’s not a complete moron. He hides his rage for the time being, allowing it to fester, while he comes up with a plan to rid the world of Mordecai and his people. Notice the text says, “Haman sought to destroy all the Jews…”

Who do you think put Haman up to that? If you guessed Satan, you’d be correct. It is very possible that Satan deliberately helped Haman get to the top, so to speak, for the sole purpose of destroying the Jewish people. This is exactly what he did with Hitler and others who have made it their cause to destroy the Jewish people.

Let’s not forget that Satan was there in the Garden of Eden when God handed down sentencing (Genesis 3). He was there when God implied that a Savior would ultimately be born of a woman and that Savior would deal Satan a fatal blow to the head, in spite of the fact that Satan would be given a wound to the heel (cf. Genesis 3:15).

Satan is not an idiot. He can read between the lines. Though he is not privy to all of God’s plans, Satan was smart enough to realize that God was telling him what was going to happen to him. In other words, he would fail and ultimately, be destroyed (in the Lake of Fire). Revelation 20:10 tells us this cogent and terrifying fact. “And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

But if Satan could destroy the Jews before the Savior was born, he would win! Hence as Satan scanned the landscape for someone he could use for his purposes, his gaze fell on Haman during the time of Esther and Mordecai. Satan would use Haman to destroy Mordecai and the Jewish people!

Esther found out about Haman’s plot from Mordecai (Esther 4) and chose to take the case to the king at great risk to herself. She could have been killed because he had not called her, but she came to him. Esther explained what Haman planned to do. Haman was invited to dinner with the king and he felt certain he was going to receive some great reward. Meanwhile, the gallows were being built to execute Mordecai. In the end, it was all revealed and the king opted to put Haman to death on the very gallows he had built for Mordecai (Esther 7). It’s a wonderful narrative of the events that occurred and I wish we had time to go over everything with a fine tooth comb, but we don’t.

In the end, it was Haman’s pride that killed him (Esther 5:9-14), the same pride that destroyed Lucifer (Satan). It’s the same pride he uses today when he is able to align one more person with himself against the Jewish people and Israel. There are plenty of Jews and Gentiles available to Satan.

But why has Satan continued to deal so harshly with the Jewish people and Israel now that Jesus was born and completed His redemptive work? He lost, didn’t he?

Because Satan’s hatred drives him, for one thing. For another thing, he is desperate to make God a liar. If Satan can successfully destroy all Jews, there won’t be any Jewish people alive to go into the Millennial Kingdom that follows the coming Tribulation where they will be ruled over by Jesus Himself for 1,000 years. This will be their time to have all the Land that God first promised to Abraham. They have never really enjoyed all the Land with a king over them who always did the right thing. They will during the Millennial Kingdom that is coming, unless Satan can destroy all Jews before then. He will then have succeeded in making God a liar. Of course, that won’t happen.

Antisemitism exists in all its ugly, satanic glory. The Bible promises that it will grow and climax during the coming Tribulation. But God will be victorious. All of His promises will come to fruition.

Our battle is not against flesh and blood. It actually starts and ends in the heavenly realms, where Satan and his evil spirits roam attempting at every turn to destroy the Jewish people and the nation of Israel. On many occasions, Satan can simply turn Jews upon Jews. That works. On other occasions, he turns Gentiles against Jews. That works too.

Satan’s goal is to destroy everything that God desires to accomplish. In many ways, human beings are nothing more than pawns to Satan. Even when it appears as though he has “blessed” his followers, he is simply setting them up for eternal destruction.

Flee from Antisemitism. Christians truly owe a debt of gratitude to Israel because it was through that nation that the Savior/Messiah was born. Understand that to exhibit Antisemitism is to align yourself with Satan, the author of it. How do you plan on explaining that to God?
