Cornwall named among the worst places to bring up children in the UK

 Great news eh?

“A study, carried out by Witter Towbars, has shown that Cornwall is one of the worst counties for children when it comes to factors such as education standards, deprivation level and the number of children who are classed as overweight or obese.

Although the company stresses the fact that Cornwall has a vast number of attractions that are child-friendly, a relatively low crime rate and the average price for a 3-bed house being mid-range, the county ranked mid-table for disposable income.

Witter Towbars also pointed out that Cornwall has a deprivation score of 23.8, placing it in the bottom ten and 26.80% of four-five-year-olds starting their education are classed as overweight or obese. This is the highest percentage rate across England.”

Proof were it needed that things don’t just happen. Who would’ve thought, a place near completely ignored by power, could be so bad for poor people?
