Prince Charles Needs £8.7 Million to Build a New Road - and Cornwall Is Going to Pay for It

If you want to know what’s happening in Cornwall, well Cornwall Council, or as locals now call it “Kremlin Kernow”, has decided to lend money to a new development, developed by none other then The Duke of Cornwall himself, Big Ears Prince Charles. One new stadium funding at £3 million, a new town funded at £94 million, and now £9 million for Charlie.

Meanwhile The Council can’t afford essential services such as public toilets, bin waste collection, road maintenance etc etc. The main hospital of Cornwall, already continuously on black alert, doesn’t matter, the road leading to the hospital which is already constantly gridlocked doesn’t matter as the new town and stadium, which will hold 10,000, will both share the same road as the hospital. The new town will house approximately 8,000 people.

People will most likely die before they get to the hospital, if the hospital doesn’t close down first that is but hey, so long as people brought in from outside of Cornwall can live here its alright, right?

Taxpayers look set to fill a £8.7million gap in funding for a new road providing access to a development being led by Prince Charles.

The Newquay Strategic Route (NSR) will be an access road for the major growth area development in Newquay, known as Nansledan, which will eventually provide 3,880 new homes.

This week Cornwall Council’s Cabinet is being asked to approve funding of £8.7m for the new road to the development.

In a report to Cabinet it is stated that more than £15m has been raised for the project, but the council has been asked to provide the additional funding so that the road can be delivered early and give the full benefits to the scheme.

The road is said to be able to unlock 1,600 homes on the development, along with around 800 new jobs.

” If the council provides the funding it will come from its economic development match fund reserve.

The report to Cabinet states that the Duchy of Cornwall has a planning obligation to provide the road, but says that this is only triggered by the opening of a new supermarket on the development.”
