HAPPY THURSDAY! Time for a fabulous interview with the Roecker sisters as I give a little, long overdue, shout-out for the Liar Society series.

On to my Bookanista Interview with Lisa and Laura Roecker:

CF: Congrats on your Liar Society series. Can you tell me a little about the series?

LLR: We’re really proud of the final book in the series so as bittersweet as it sometimes feels to say goodbye to Kate and Liam and Seth (oh Seth!) and Bradley, it feels right. We’ve had so much fun with the series but until we finished the last, it didn’t quite feel complete. Now it does!

CF: Is there one book you like more than any of the others? Was one harder to write than the others?

LLR: THE LIES THAT BIND was probably the most challenging for us to write. Series are hard! We had to learn how to welcome readers who weren’t familiar with the series while at the same time not bore anyone to death. THE LIAR SOCIETY obviously has a special place in our hearts because it was our baby out in the world for the first time. THIRD LIE’S THE CHARM though might have to be our favorite. We’re doing everything we wanted in one book so it’s super-fun.

CF: What is the best thing about being writing sisters? The hardest?

LLR: The best part about writing together is having someone to talk to ALL THE TIME who understands. The publishing world is such a unique place. We can’t imagine not sharing that with each other. Shipping a broken document off to the other person to fix is pretty fun too. The hardest is always feeling like you’re letting someone down. We all have our hangups as writers, but we have to share them with each other. If one of us misses a deadline or writes a junky chapter, we feel completely responsible. Pressure, baby!

CF: Now that you have been writing for a while, what advice would you have for authors today?

LLR: Take your time and edit. Books aren’t going anywhere and your idea will never be stolen out from under you. You might feel the pressure of the clock, but slow down and get it right. Once your book is out there, there’s really no getting it back.

CF: What are your opinions about the changing industry – what are you most excited about? Most concerned about?

LLR: It’s a really cool time to be a writer and a reader. Everything is changing and it’s fascinating to be in the mix of it. We are most excited about the interactive potential of e-books. We know kids live in a digital world so why not embrace it? Sure there will ALWAYS be a need for paper books, but e-books are so accessible. We’re concerned about the saturated market. There is a whole lot out there and we feel a bit lost at times.

CF: And now – a little fun: What new title are you most excited to read?

LLR: We’ve already had a sneak peek, but we’re SUPER excited for Joy Preble’s latest THE SWEET DEAD LIFE which will be out this May.

CF: Which newer author are you excited about?

LLR: We are SO excited about Loretta Nyhan and Suzanne Hayes. They have a co-written book I’LL BE SEEING YOU coming out in May and they each have separate projects out this Spring. We get excited to read pretty much anything these talented ladies come up with.

CF: What Non-Writing things have you two been up to?

LLR: Working day jobs, raising families and overdosing on Pinterest. That pretty much sums up our lives.

CF: Anything else you’d like to share?

LLR: If you’re up for a summer read, THIS IS W.A.R. releases July 2nd through Soho Press. Think girls, a country club, powerful families and revenge
