Write Mobs: Are You In?

As I’ve grown the consulting and publishing side of my life, Amalgam has changed. I thought I might want to offer a limited imprint for novels, but I realized there are a lot of folks out there doing that and I have very little interest in barging in on their market share. I love the idea of collections; more specifically, I like the idea of fiction collections.

Recently, a good friend of mine (and a fellow author and editor) came up with a wonderful premise that we are going to run with here in Chico, CA: a write mob. I love the idea. We are gathering forces and making plans in order to see this come to fruition.

I want to try it from a different angle. I want to create a global event that shows writing as the interconnected community that it is. So, here’s what I am going to do. I am going to have an online-only, genre-specific, write mob for flash fiction (500 words or less) in the following genres:

Crime
Fantasy
Horror
Romance
Erotica
Science Fiction
Mystery Western
General

Here’s how it is going to work:

You let me know which one you will show up for.
I will arrange dates and times based on the people who want to be a part of it.
On the day for a particular genre, we all starting writing at the same time; and then after 30 minutes, everyone stops and sends the flash fiction to me (it is essentially a quick write).
I will create an eBook (and a printed book as well if we have enough folks) that will be available on Amazon a few days later.

So, this is the rub: I need to know if you want to participate and in which genre(s).
