13 States Will Raise Their Minimum Wage For The New Year

WASHINGTON — Minimum wage workers in a handful of states will be ringing in the new year with an automatic pay raise.
As Congress considers legislation that would boost the federal minimum wage, at least 13 states will be raising the wage floor on their own next week. They’re led once again by Washington state, which will continue to have the highest state minimum wage in the nation, at $9.32 per hour.
A few cities and counties around the country will be raising their minimum wages as well, including San Francisco, which will set its at $10.74. San Francisco’s base will no longer be the highest municipal minimum wage in the country, however, after voters in SeaTac, Wash., approved a ballot measure setting a $15 wage floor for an estimated 6,000 airport workers. The SeaTac minimum wage is set to go into effect Jan. 1, although it’s currently being challenged in court.

@ Confederate In those 13 states it would mean higher unemployment and also the prices on cheaper goods will go up. Have to higher less worker to save money.
And whole new groups of elderly and infirm people on fixed incomes will drop into poverty and have to start deciding whether to fill prescriptions or buy food.
Remember when the “free market” used to be free? Oh, the good old days!
Now we have states and cities telling private enterprises how to operate, where to operate, with what goods and services to provide, and whom they are required to provide it too. It’s hardly a wonder that 91 million people have left the workforce, and that the businesses that once employed them have had enough of this crap.
the banksters have been sucking it up wholesale for a decade, let the poor wet their beaks before the show closes.
this is just another way to funnel more money out of the middle class and into the lower class who will waste it on jordans eventually giving it all back to the upper class so at the end of the day there is the upper class and the lower class with a vast killing field where the middle class used to be.
It’s ok sooner or later all jobs and services will be outsourced to other countries and we can eat paper if we wait long enough and China develops, more food will come to our shelves from their farm productions like in Brazil , Kansas, Africa, Californian, I do think they own that already. Oh yes and the Oil in the Dakotas that we are drilling and then capping them off for future payments in resources including the closed Coal mines, to China for the Loans. Yes I said Capped off. And to think those resources belong to the people, Ahh were is your check?
