Crucial corporate sustainability trends to watch out for in 2015

As a part of discussion of the 14th Annual Responsible Business summit, an organization tried to deduce some of the top most priorities of businesses for the year 2015 and beyond. As we’re almost at the last few months of 2015, this is the best time to determine the key opportunities and priorities of businesses for 2015. A total number of 572 professionals shared their individual views and they even identified some of the key trends both in distinct regions and globally.

Around 25% of the respondents stated that their organizations are all driven by the main force of sustainability. Another 48% believed and claimed that sustainability is either fully incorporated within most departments or it is present within the organization. More than 50% of the respondents said that embedded sustainability within each and every department of an organization is definitely the highest priority in 2015, the second highest priority being creating a sustainability culture. Doesn’t this statistic echo a trend of sustainability throughout the corporate industry?

  • Increasing numbers of celebrities endorsing sustainable communication campaigns

Although a few popular celebrities have already been at it since a while, but there has been a significant and noteworthy rise in the number of famous people appearing in campaigns which are driven by sustainability. Pharrell and William are involved in endorsing circular models through the plastic waste with Bionic Yarn and Ekocycle respectively. Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, Penelope Cruz, Ian Somerhalder contributed their voice to the Conservation International’s campaign named Nature is Speaking.

  • Good quality humor being used as strong weapon for sustainability marketing

Don’t we all remember how humor did miracle for the Follow the Frog Campaign by Rainforest Alliance? It made us feel like something that was both an exclusive incidence and also sustainable-minded at the same time. Some of the favorites within the last few months nclude ‘food porn data’ by Bolthouse Farms, ‘Save the Bros’ by Organic Valley and BMW’s Superbowl ad for the electric car model.

  • Collaboration and cooperation among mainstream and peer-to-peer economies

Last year, 2014, there were more than 70 cases of mainstream and popular brands participating in peer-to-peer economy and lending in different ways and since then this list has grown with time. There are now new layers of value creation from certain peer-to-peer models that are emerging and there are amalgamations with the mainstream propositions that keep growing in diversity. How about the example of Good Gym where a flock of UK runners exercise regularly in order to help some of the local communities?

  • Homes will gradually get truly connected with the Internet and will become ‘smart’

It now seems even more than sanguine that there will be a number of interesting upgrades with regards to the homes and apartment appliances and objects. Things will become a lot more resource-efficient than what they are now. Whirlpool is one among those early movers who actively participate in sustainability and has already released a large number of smart home products.

Therefore, if you are the leader of a corporate business, you should watch out for the sustainability trends mentioned above and take the required steps to do the same.
