(Before It's News)

Unfavorable weather conditions affected categories like beer, packaged water and carbonates. However, Euro 2016, a soccer event triggered marketing actions for many beverage brands. All in all, commercial beverage consumption remained on the positive side, with overall pace not going below previous expectations. Decrease of excise duty for spirits and high consumer confidence has also benefited categories like alcoholic beverages.

Key Findings
- Bulk/HOD water demonstrated a modest increase in Q2-16, affected only slightly by the unfavorable weather

- Fortified wine demonstrated growth, sustained by the campaigns of international brands

- Innovation in the PL segments seems to have slowed down in the first half of year 2016, therefore brands have another chance to perform better

- Hot beverages categories demonstrated growth in Q2-16, with hot coffee keeping the momentum from last year , and hot tea sustained in part by the cool weather in May – June

- Commercial beverage consumption remains on the uptrend in Q2 2016 vs. the corresponding period of last year, still impacted by the VAT reduction for food products back in June 2015
