I think Putin knows exactly what he wants to do. I’m surprised he hasn’t stopped all communication sooner. I’m very much inclined to believe that he is playing chess in this situation and has planned several moves in advance. And nothing that anyone else is doing is surprising him or taking him off guard. I’m certain Putin is laughing himself to sleep with Kerry’s threats.
Last year, maybe in July or August, the Deputy PM of Russia, said the US is “like a monkey with a hand grenade,” as far as their policies in the ME are concerned. Well, the monkey hasn’t changed; just gotten about six months older. Just imagine what the PM or Putin must be thinking when dealing with the US: that our leadership is basically waffling, that they lack backbone, that we don’t really have the stomach for war, We have the resources to START a war, and really make a big noisy beginning to it, but we don’t have the stamina to endure anything, and that when we put guys like Kerry, Obama, and Hagel out there as our leading guys, trying to resolve some of these difficulties, it’s laughable.
