China Ends Their One-Child Per Family Policy
There are 200 million people worldwide who are out of work. And China has just announced their intention to end their “one child per family” policy. The Wall Street Journal reported on this last week, and Reuters picked up the story 2 days ago and put it on their front page.
The only problem is there never was a one child policy. It’s clear to see from the statistical data.
The “family planning policy” was adopted in 1978. It always exempted ethnic minorities, foreigners living in China, citizens of Macao and Hong Kong, people in rural areas, parents having twins, and parents who are themselves children. Families could also apply for an exemption if their first child was female. As of 2007 only 38% of the population was subject this rule.
A strict one child policy would have reduced the population after 35 years. If longevity had not increased due to medical advances the population could theoretically be half now what it was in 1978. Instead, the population is 30% greater now than in 1978.
The statistical average is actually 2 children per family over this time frame.
Now there is a growing consensus in China (it seems they have the same problems with political correctness that we do – once an idea takes root it grows without bound) to end the one child policy. I suppose their media has tunnel vision as bad as ours. Otherwise they would realize that the one child policy never worked to begin with.
The rationale is that they need more workers. Unemployment is a horrific 4%. Only 980 million people have jobs.
Their policy of keeping their currency pegged at 40% below value versus the U.S. dollar (which is the world’s currency standard, so their currency is pegged 40% below value versus ALL currencies) has created such an economic boom that low unemployment is creating inflation.
So their plan is to have more kids, add another 100 million people to their workforce, and to hell with the 200 million people in the rest of the world who can’t find work – that number will likely be a billion by the time the new generation of ChiComs is of working age.
If that’s not war, I don’t know what is.
China is out of control.
And how.
