Lessons From Attempted Assassination Of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords

Having lived for many years in Tucson, Arizona, I can say that it came as a particularly dramatic shock to learn of the attempted assassination of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. I have always opposed her politically, and voted against her two months ago, but I have never held anything personal against her, and I am deeply saddened for herself and her family, and for all those who know and love her, to know that something like this happened to her. The same goes for those who were slaughtered beside her, and their families.

There is even worse news for us than her attempted assassination, though: it is that this comes as no surprise. Our society has gotten sicker and sicker since the mid-60s, and one cannot help but wonder as to how and why it is that this type of thing has not become downright common and ordinary, given the depravity into which we have already sunk.

Every time this type of thing happens, the Constitution gets raped, and the Rule of Law gets raped … and left for dead. Is there not a more noble way to express absolute, total outrage at the mindless, faceless, bureaucratic machine which our federal government has become? Is there not some way to put one’s own life on the line, rather than to try to kill someone else in cold-blooded, cowardly fashion, in order to illustrate in dramatic fashion that something must be done to get our government to listen?

If a nation such as ours was brought into being by such noble and valiant sacrifices as our Founding Fathers made, is it now to be preserved and maintained by despicable conduct? God forbid! In fact, it is lunacy to think that such conduct could possibly lead to the preservation of higher values.

Those who would be heroes of Liberty will ever seek to vindicate their cause through self-sacrifice. Those who crawl out from under a rock to destroy the very foundations of Liberty simply deserve what they get.

May God grant us the wisdom and strength to guide us through these days.

Lesson should be to STOP teaching discrimination and hate on your blogs. These are the radical messages that put guns in people hands. Hate speech on your blogs is acts of terrorism. Dear God, I hope you and those like you don’t have any kids; they could be the next future Jared Loughner. BTW, heard he is Jewish, so does this mean you think all Jews are terrorist?
