STR8TALK:To Comply or Die?

I’m tired of hearing Pastors / Clergy tell their followers that we should “always” submit to authority because the Bible says too. It’s true, we are to respect and obey the authorities God has placed over us, but like all things… authorities can turn evil.

If a government works on behalf of the good of its people by creating fair laws that grow the land; prosper the people; punish evil; give victims justice and allow the convicted due process to determine guilt or innocence, then these traits reflect positively on God. And God blesses those nations who honor him… not necessarily capitalism-based nations, either.

However, if a government turns evil and begins a quick or slow process of undermining its own people; rewarding criminals; killing or poisoning the innocent, poor, vulnerable and weak; exploiting hard working citizens and turning its back on the morals and ethics God supports… our Creator will withdraw his blessings and protection from that nation. Why? Because the authority God gave them has been abused and turned evil. God does NOT support evil and neither do his children if they truly love him.

During WWII, true believing churches were eliminated leaving state-run propaganda churches full of puppet worshippers praising God (good) and praising & supporting Hitler (evil) and telling folks to submit to his authority! Of course, the folks in church were there more for appearances than for their belief in God or the outcry against the deaths camps and millions of innocents would have been heard around the world BEFORE the war ended.  Anybody (even evil) can take Bible scripture and twist it for its own agenda. These church attenders were accessories to murder for supporting Hitler when they should have known better.

What else does God say about obeying governments, authorities, leaders ’s …etc?  Let’s look at that too and paint a clearer picture of God’s viewpoint on the topic… then you decide:

1. PHAROAH: God saved Israel from starvation by using Joseph’s enslavement, imprisonment &  trials to teach him patience and perseverance. Two major skills needed when God elevated him up to the #2 position, next only to Pharaoh (A good leader) in Egypt. Several hundred years later, God used Moses to rip his horribly abused and enslaved children out of the evil hands of another Pharoah… and broke that nation!
2. ESTHER: God also used Queen Esther to save the Israelites when a good leader was tricked into passing an irrevocable law to kill them all because of a “perceived” threat. Queen Esther was able to make it possible for all Israelites (her people) to arm themselves for protection from an evil government plot.
3. DANIEL: Daniel was set up by crooked & jealous politicians who convinced the King to create a law that would violate Daniel’s prayer life to God. Daniel was tossed in to the lion’s den for supposedly “rebelling” against this stupid law. God protected Daniel’s rebelliousness against stupidity by closing the hungry lion’s mouths. The next day? The rotten politicians and their families ended up as Lion Chow! So much for that authority…

So, there is biblical precedence where God and/or his people were CORRECT to rebel or work against the EVIL authorities in power! But if a good authority is in power, as Christians, we MUST support and help them become better to benefit all.  

But if Martial Law comes to America (as a whole nation)… that just means the “justice-oriented”  authority God established (thus we follow) to guide this land fairly (via the Constitution) has been “CANCELLED.” All laws & rights have been replaced by a unjust authority who would use soldiers to control, arrest and kill “unarmed” civilians just by calling them a terrorist and using a bogus law to justify this action… WITHOUT A FAIR TRIAL! If that’s not evil, I don’t know what would convince you… Running tanks over men, women & children? Or maybe burning buildings crowded with people, perhaps? Putting shock collars on people like animals? Rapes? Pillaging homes? Destroying families? What will it take to convince you NOT TO SUPPORT AN EVIL AUTHORITY OPPOSED TO THE VERY NATURE OF GOD?    

In the end, you are the one to decide what to do. That burden is yours… and yours alone. But remember…  “EVIL SPREADS WHEN GOOD MEN & WOMEN FAIL TO ACT & FIGHT”

Perhaps the hardest part of this will be watching good folks carrying out the actions of evil authorities thinking nothing has really changed… business as usual. They may mean well, but they will NOT HAVE  THOUGHT IT THROUGH. Their curse will be to live with the knowledge of betraying the very people they swore to protect… but instead imprisoned falsely or killed because some “voice of authority” told them to do the dirty work.  All I can say is this… you gotta sleep at night!

If you are currently in the military or police force, God gave you a brain, a mind and a heart. You may no longer be able to uphold the US Constitutional law of the land if it is revoked… but you CAN STILL HAVE A HIGHER MORAL & ETHICAL CODE OF GOD to fall back on & support until sanity can be restored to the land.

Finally, don’t ever say “I didn’t have a choice…” We all have a choice. We can do good or do evil. I taught my kids a simple phrase to remember whenever they came across a moral dilemma… “ALWAYS DO THE RIGHT THING THAT HONORS GOD.” Why?  Your Creator will honor, bless and protect you in return… for carrying on his work against evil and rescuing the perishing. There’s no greater honor to fight for than that. And if you are his child and die trying to do the right thing… you’ll go out in style, honorably.
