-Poll: America Muslims Support Sharia and Criminalization of Blasphemy?

A new poll shows that 40% of American Muslims support the creation of a separate sharia court system in the USA.

Also 46%  of American Muslims believe that blasphemy of Islam should be criminalized while a shocking 1 out of every 8 think that Americans who criticize or parody Islam should face the death penalty.

Nearly half of 600 Muslim-American citizens polled who plan to vote in the 2012 presidential election believe parodies of Muhammad should be prosecuted criminally in the U.S., and one in eight say the offense is so serious violators should face the death penalty.

The results came in a groundbreaking scientific poll for WND by the public-opinion research and media consulting company Wenzel Strategies. It was taken Oct. 22-26 and carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.98 percentage points.

The poll also found 40 percent of Muslims in America believe they should not be judged by U.S. law and the Constitution, but by Shariah standards.

Response: The good part is that 60% of American Muslims do believe in American law and Constitutional jurisprudence.

However it is disconcerting that such a large minority (46%) approaching half of the American Muslim community believe that there should be some kind of criminal penalty for insulting Islam and Muhammad. Beyond that, it is down right scary that 11.5% actually believe that the death penalty is warranted for blasphemy of Islam and another 9% would not commit one way or another.

These opinions show a huge disconnect from the rest of American society and traditional American values and freedom. Right now Muslims are a small but fast growing minority in America. As their numbers grow we can expect some conflicts in our midst in the future when it comes to conversation and disagreements about Islam and their prophet.

We have always had freedom in this country to argue and disagree over religions and religious leaders. Freedom of speech and religion should not be allowed to be a casualty in the PC quest to fight so-called Islamophobia and make Muslims feel more welcome in America.             *Top
