I believe in Free Speech. I do. But there are some communities that have noise ordinances where bullhorns and sound systems are regulated. I totally agree with noise ordinances. From the video, it appears to be a street fair with a lot of music and general hubbub party noise. If his sound level drowned out the other sounds and gave the scene a chaotic feeling, then that is a nuisance. The free speech envelope can only be pushed so far. Before setting up an outdoor pulpit, find out what the local ordinances are!

USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!

Springfield, Missouri, has been the home of the Assemblies of God flagship Bible college, Central Bible College, since 1922 (recently reorganized as Evangel University in May of this year, 2013). Thousands of students honed their skills in ‘street preaching’ in Springfield over the past 90 years. But it seems some local policemen (local? Or recruited from elsewhere?) have a problem recognizing that Springfield has a culture of welcoming the outspoken proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ right smack in the middle of town, especially on nice evenings, when crowds enjoy walking, shopping, and snacking. This heavy-handed reaction to the exercise of free speech by Christian young people provides a failed litmus test for the training of police in the city.

    THE BUCK STOPS HERE:

Police Chief Paul F. Williams was sworn in as the Chief of Police for Springfield, Missouri on July 1, 2010. He came to Springfield after serving with the Tulsa Police Department, retiring at the rank of Major after 29 years of service.

Chief Williams holds a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Northeastern (OK) State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Northern Michigan University. He graduated from PERF’s Senior Management Institute for Police in 2009 and is a graduate of the 207th Session of the FBI National Academy. He instructs criminal justice courses at Missouri State University, is certified as an instructor for the IACP Leadership in Police Organizations program, and is a Missouri POST generalist instructor.

Chief Williams currently serves on the boards of the following organizations: IACP Mid-Sized Agencies Section, Missouri Police Chiefs Association, United Way of the Ozarks, Community Partnership of the Ozarks, Springfield-Greene County 911, Trunked Radio System, Combined Ozarks Multi-jurisdictional Enforcement Team, and the SW Missouri Police Chiefs Association. In addition he also volunteers on numerous advisory boards and councils, and enjoys coaching youth sports. Chief Williams and his wife, Regina, have three children and one granddaughter.

Join Chief Williams for “Coffee With the Chief” on October 30, 2013.

Chief Williams plans to host “Coffee with the Chief” at the following locations:

Wednesday, October 30 7:00 a.m. Coffee Ethic 124 Park Central Square

    Police Headquarters:

    Headquarters
    321 E. Chestnut Expressway
    Springfield, MO 65802

One has to wonder, will the Nazi jackboot police in this country, continue to abuse, torture and even kill the citizens, when those same citizens start killing them back? I’m betting they will be running scared like the cowards they are.

99.999% of the time I go against the cops but this one I have to say job well done.
They were told to move on. They were warned. They were not beaten however I wish one of them had slapped the female in the mouth to shut her up.

They appeared to have set up a little stage with sound system and props on a public sidewalk, blocking its use by pedestrians. I have saw the idiots before and if I had my boombox with me and some Halloween props I would have set up right beside them and played some AC DC or other nice metal music dressed as Satan or some type demon and preached devil worship. How long do you think it would take for them to start calling the cops on me saying I was corrupting children or some BS?

Someone said it looks like a street fair, if so the theme was most likely not what the were preaching, and I am not sure about where they were but most street fairs require a permit, and i would be willing to bet they did not have one.

I am pretty sure I heard people cheer when they were arrested. Out of all the people there the video mentions 3 people that supposedly agreed with them and supported them.
They blocked comments on YouTube? But at the same time cry freedom of speech if they believe in it so much why are they limiting it on their video?
Could it be they know that most people would praise the police?

    • Mr________

I agree, most of the time I detest police state actions, but this? These arrogant people are wanabe theocratic pukes, wannabe dictators who want to spread their religion by force, by being the loudest, by bullying. If they were Buddhists, would you theocrats make a peep of protest? Atheists? Agnostics? Of course not. Fundamental Christians are no different that Islamists who want to force their filth on society….the seek to impose their will on everyone. Both groups are a curse on humanity.

  • Beast of Revelation

Yeshua never said to stand on street corners and annoying yell random things he didn’t even say

  • Pix

There are more Christian convicted criminals in jail than any other group of people. They are way over represented in jails, because they have ego problems thinking they are above the law.

Your spin claims they were preaching, but they were spewing hate, inciting other people to hate.

    • ecclesiatical

That is probably because it is the largest group of people. which in turn is called percentage!!!

      • Pix

No, it’s not because they are the largest group, they are over represented per percentage of population.

Muslims make up the next largest group of prison inmates, who are also over represented per population. Atheists on the other hand are under represented per percentage of population, making up less than 1% of total prison inmate populations in the USA, or in any Western cultures.

        Religious = Lawless.

    • FromDeath 2Life

LOL pix your comments always crack me up. Are you sure their Christian? Do you know whats truly in their heart that they follow Jesus Christ? Are you going by Illuminati data or God’s data? Its funny how when someone speaks the truth it comes off as negative to sheeps.

      • Pix

They claim to be Christian, and as nobody can tell if someones claim is genuine or not, one can only take their word for it.

Personally think you should do as the bible suggests, ‘judge them by their works’. In which case there is no such thing as a Christian because not a single person follows what Jesus preached as the 8 essential criteria for entry into heaven, eg to ‘sell everything you own and follow Jesus like a disciple’. Or how about ‘follow all the old Jewish laws better than the law keepers’, that would include the over 100 laws on ritual animal sacrifices. How many people do you know who have sold everything, follow Jesus like a disciple, and follow all the old Jewish laws better than the law keepers? I know of nobody, you are all liars.

      • Allan

Pix once again you are wrong, the NT teaches there is nothing by works we can do to get into heaven. The way to heaven is to believe Jesus as a Lord and to repent of our sins. All good dead’s are seen as rags to God this is the reason Jesus came to save us all.

It was Just BABEL. Jesus this Jesus that…666 this 666 that…

Anybody can stand on a soap box and scream scripture. They might want to try to listen to the advice from it first though.

“Let YOUR reasonableness become known to all men” . . (Php 4:5)

“Who is wise and understanding among YOU? Let him show out of his fine conduct his works with a mildness that belongs to wisdom. . . (Jas 3:13)

That is what is happen when president is a Muslim and all system is corrupt.

When I see this and read the comments it makes me wonder when is it ok for free speech and when is free speech not ok? You start to erode the meaning and it soon becomes a thing in the past. When free speech is ok when you agree with it and not ok when you don’t then it is no longer of value. While I have mixed feeling about religions I also allow people their own opinion to express their feeling should I not agree I simply move on. It’s kind of like Believing in GOD or not believing I find it hard not to believe in GOD when I look around at his creations and the very idea of some big bang theory I find comical but I don’t put down other’s for believing in the big bang! I have always taken people for what they are and not the color of their skin or who they sleep with. Hate is taught and for the purpose of keeping people distracted with what is really going on in the world today. Instead of bashing people who believe they are warning others of what is about to come look into the sky and watch while the elite have us sprayed daily like bugs and look at what they are putting into our water and see what they are doing to our food to control the very people of the earth. You want something to beat a drum about that is about as important as it gets because it involves every human being on this Earth and left un challenged there won’t be many more generations left to bicker about street corner preachers!

  • manufactured2012

Ok…. so you got a salesman standing on a street corner shouting at you in an extremely annoying manner, trying to sell you something… do you feel like buying his product?

I don’t think so! Call the police because this salesman it extremely aggressive and is really bothering people!

The religion represented by the soap box preacher is nothing but an rude annoyance that detracts from whatever message he is trying to get across. He does a disservice to Gods word and nobody is buying it.

  • msvickybee

Please give us the entire context of the story instead of just telling us “These three were arrest” because it does look as if they were using very poor judgement as far as where they were preaching and how they were going about it.

There is no power in yelling at a crowd of people, “praise Jesus, repent of your sins.” That is not what inspires people. They looking like a group of self-righteous fanatics with no thought behind anything they’re saying.

Christianity is not effective at words. True protest that changes the world is when three or more are gathered and are powerfully turning to God in prayer lifting up whatever problems are at hand. This is a time to pray not a time to get in everybody’s faces. Use wisdom and allow the holy spirit to do the communicating to the human race.

  • uknowthetruth

why 3 christians….why is it so important to mention they are christian (or in other cases black/white/muslim etc etc) why cant it just simply read 3 honest citizines….is it that hard to not seperate people from 1 another?

  • mariusb

Finally the cops did something right, those people are delusional, there is no need to put up with their delusional crap when your out trying to have a peaceful time, keep the crap in your church, stop forcing it down peoples thoughts, not everyone is scared, selfish delusional freaks, if someone want to become a vegetable, they will come to your church’s, so you can preach your crap. Preaching in public should be illegal, or at least have a permit and have signs before you enter a place saying, warning you, by entering here you are…………

  • jsav

Thats disgraceful, God is watching and will revenge those that are mistreated. It says in the Word of God that in the endtimes that people will be “Offended” – people wake up, God Is Real and you are all being deceived by the evil one. It is too late to wish you had turned to God when you are being tormented in an ever lasting hell

    • mariusb

jsav,,,,,You obvious are delusional, stay off the internet if you follow your gods word, the internet is evil, why are you here, go pray to your easter bunny, then watch your porn, then prey for forgiveness dkhead

  • Templar

    I AGREE:
Due to the fact they were overdoing stuff with all this such as noise!

    I DISAGREE:
Cause I think voicing out a powerful religion to show WHO IS BOSS IN THIS COUNTRY should be done and to shout out that Catholics are the powerhouse of the USA! Therefore I would have to lean more on the side of the crowd with this one.
