Christian Congressman Caught Cheating On Vid Fires Office Playmate, Says Re-Elect Me (Video)

In what has been called the most spectacular re-election announcement in history, a Congressman has fired his partner-in-lust after caught on camera cheating on his wife, giving his office playmate a steamy kiss, and has announced his infidetlity and candidacy for re-election almost in the same breath.

No big surprise where this oil and gas Congressman, who admitted two days ago to infidelity, is from: Louisiana.  McAllister is an  Army veteran with a background in the oil, gas and pipeline businesses.

“Here’s a question: What do you think a married family values Congressman would do if he were caught on camera passionately kissing a key staffer who also happened to be the wife of a big supporter?” asks Daily Kos.

“Before yesterday, that would have been an amusing hypothetical.”

Today, however, now that Louisiana’s GOP Congressman Vance McAllister, father of five, who boasts of his Christianity, has put himself in exactly that position. 

McAllister says he plans to run for reelection this November “unless there is an outcry for me not to serve, and so far there has been an outpouring of support, not for my actions, but for me to continue to represent the people.”

So one part of the answer is that he plans to run for re-election. And as for the other? 

He had his staffer fired:

Adam Terry, McAllister’s chief of staff, said Peacock [McAllister's partner in lust] was taken off of the payroll during the past 24 hours.

And given that Louisiana’s big oil man Sen. David Vitter managed to score a 19-point victory after getting caught in a prostitution scandal, McAllister obviously picked the right state to make it.

McAllister is a member of the North Monroe Baptist Church. He describes his decision to run for Congress as a “prayerful one.”

In the video, McAllister is shown turning off the lights and then kissing a woman for approximately thirty seconds.

While there’s no House Ethics rule that aays you can’t make out with your staffer, as Rep. McAllister is known to have done, a similar case did lead to calls for an inquiry. Because the woman is a paid, part-time staffer in his congressional office, McAllister could face an ethics investigation.

Asked whether a request for an investigation into the matter had been filed Monday, Ethics Committee Chief Counsel Tom Rust said, “We certainly can’t comment on that.”

Not that McAllister’s behavior is unusual in the Big Greasy. “Vance McAllister is part of a long line of scandalized Louisiana politicians. A VERY long line,” Washington Post reported, with a blow by blow account, in alphabetical order, of the state’s Christian political leaders’ scandals.

Of course, the state’s “Million-Dollar Man,” oil puppet Governor Bobby Jindal, and his wife, are on the list.

In 2011, ethics watchdogs turned their eye toward the Supriya Jindal Foundation for Louisiana’s Children, a nonprofit run by Gov. Bobby Jindal’s wife that helps students access high-tech education tools. The foundation has received large donations from companies very much affected by the whims of state regulators and have things they would like from Louisiana politicians. Jindal’s office denied any connection between his wife’s charity work and his office’s political decisions, and the issue has mostly faded away.
 

Tightening state ethics rules has been a priority of Jindal’s gubernatorial career, but ask any Louisiana sinkhole town resident about that. They’ll tell you he failed miserably in reaching that goal, as his sinkhole, making residents their energy refugees, and making the entire area a national sacrifice zone prove.
