Are the Palestinians the True Jews?

Meeting in Munich last February with Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, the Israeli delegation was informed that the Palestinians would not recognize Israel as a Jewish state, the one demand made by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu during the recent peace negotiations. But if that wasn’t enough, the delegation was stunned when Erekat claimed that his family has a greater claim to the land than do the Jews. “I am the proud son of the Canaanites who were there 5,500 years before Joshua bin Nun burned down the town of Jericho!” said Erekat adding, “This is my narrative!” In fact, Erekat is part of a family of Arabs who migrated to the area from Saudi Arabia. He was born in Abu Dis, a village near Jerusalem. A member of his family, Hussein Mohamed Erekat, who was interviewed by Internet blogger Elder of Ziyon, said that their family actually comes from the Huwaitat region of the northwestern Arabian Peninsula. In addition, the Facebook page of the Erekat family traces its roots to Huwaitat and mentions prominent Erekats including Saeb. (Israel Today, March)

In their ongoing effort to claim ancient ties to the Holy Land that precede those of the Jews, Khamal Khatib, the spiritual leader of Israel’s Islamic Movement, once said that the Palestinians are descended from the Jebusites while Yasser Arafat said that they were descendants of the Philistines. In the words of Messianic historian Gershon Nerel, “The West doesn’t understand history and it knows even less about the Bible. The Palestinians first have to decide if they want to be Arabs or Canaanites. They deliberately falsify history and that is an insult to one’s intelligence.” (Israel Today, March, page 5)

Jordanian Sheikh Ahmad Adwan is quoted by the London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Quds Al-Arabi as saying “There is nothing written about ‘Palestine’ in the Koran.” He points out that the Jewish claim to the Land is spelled out clearly. “Jordan is, in fact, Palestine, but Allah has promised the Land to the Children of Israel until the final Day of Judgment,” the Sheikh said. “It is written in Sura 5:21: ‘O my people, enter the Holy Land which Allah has assigned to you.’” The Sheikh also cited Sura 26:59, which reads, “We caused the Children of Israel to inherit it.” “Where does the name ‘Palestine’ come from in the first place?” Adwan asks, adding, “In the Koran, it is called ‘the Holy Land’ and it is given to the Children of Israel. Those [Palestinians] who claim the Land have no right to it because it belongs to the Jews. Allah is the protector of the Jews.” (Israel Today, April, page 4)

Middle East expert Rafi Israeli says that the Palestinians do not actually have roots in Israel. “They know this very well”, he says. “And that’s the reason they are trying to invent new roots in the Land. But, as soon as you confront this historical nonsense, Western intellectuals demand acceptance of the Palestinian narrative. They probably do not even care what is right historically. I am warning against any recognition of these so-called ‘historical facts.’ If a lie gets repeated often enough, it becomes truth. We must not remain silent!” (Israel Today, April, page 4)

In his book, To Whom Does This Land Belong? Israeli Professor Nissim Dana says “For Muslims, the Koran is the holy word of Allah and nothing can be more holy. It is Israel’s duty to inherit the Land. Not a single Sura [chapter[ talks about Allah promising this land to the Muslims, the Arabs, Palestinians or any other nation.” “There is no historical evidence linking the Palestinians to the Canaanites,” Prof. Dana told Israel Today. “The roots of local Muslims lead clearly back to the Arabian Peninsula. Their sudden claim to be Canaanites has an obvious political agenda. They should read the Koran more carefully because it says that the Canaanites were cast out by Allah after they corrupted the Land.” (Israel Today, April, page 5)

The fact remains that the Palestinians will continue to make their claim to the Land of the Bible and to refute any Jewish rights in order to justify their grand plan for the total destruction of the Jewish state and its being totally replaced by Arabs. And don’t forget that Mahmoud Abbas said that there is no room for Jews in a Palestinian state. (JPost)
