The Book of Revelation describes the loosing of seven seals of a great book held by God. As each seal is broken, amazing things happen, but other than the sixth seal it’s possible for them to be broken without anyone noticing on the earth. Have some of the seals already been broken? the 7 Seals are not past but are just ahead and the 7th Seal contains the 7 Trumpet Plagues and the 7th Trumpet i.e. the Last Trump, contains the 7 last plagues and at its end Christ returns and the first resurrection occurs.
The Seven Seals — are fulfilled over a 7 year time
The 7th Seal is the Day of the LORD which is the Wrath of God on the gentiles and is the last year of the 7 year time of the end.
The 7 Last Plagues FILL UP the wrath of God.
This last 7 years of punishment is called the Time of Jacob’s Trouble and there has never been a time this horrendous in human history.
The first 1260 days (3 1/2 years) the first 4 Seals are culminated
the last 1260 days Seals 5, 6, and 7 are fulfilled.
The 5th Seal is the Tribulation which last 2 1/2 years, the 6th Seal cuts short the 5th Seals and then the final year is the Day of The LORD.
If this had already occurred there would only be 10% of the 7 billion left alive on earth.

The reason why there is a clear split in the interpretation is bound in the fact that both interpretations can be substantially backed by scripture. In fact, whenever Bible scholars find themselves backed into a corner on any particular subject regarding this specific time line, they will quickly cough up another passage of scripture and then reinterpret the entire thing.
This is how they moved from believing that Christ will return after Israel was retaken in 1967, to believing that Christ will return after the temple was rebuilt, to believing that Christ will return after the Dome of the Rock was razed (inciting a Holy War with the Muslims) to believing that Christ will return after Israel is attacked by a Muslim nation as an act of war.
The really frightening thing though, is that many Christians are actually excited about starting a Holy War with the Muslims just so that the events of Revelation will unfold. Aside from the obvious lunacy of this expectation (it is clearly yet another spurious interpretation designed to fit an agenda), what if they get their holy war, and Christ still doesn’t return? What then?
All of these reinterpretations can be validated in Revelation. In fact, you can literally custom build your own interpretation of Revelation on the fly and I guarantee you that there will be scripture there than can be used to lucidly and succinctly validate your interpretation. Christian apologists do this exact sort of thing all the time. In fact, that is precisely how modern Christians only recently invented the idea for the Rapture.

It is no small coincidence then that Daniel 7 and Revelation 13 are essentially talking about the same thing. The only difference is that whereas Daniel’s dream quickly leaps from the appearance of Beast #4 to the sudden appearance of the Hebrew Messiah, Revelation 13 onwards stretches the story out in far greater detail, adding bits to it that Daniel “didn’t” see.
Whereas Daniel lived a couple thousand years before John, Daniel’s story would not have had the life experiences to embellish his story in as much fine detail. John, having seen the Roman empire first hand, goes on to add specific qualities to Daniel’s story, such that Beast # 4 fits the existing, reigning Roman Empire and the vile, murderous emperor at its helm precisely.
Almost every proponent of modern Christianity ignores this connection between the two stories simply because it hampers the effectiveness of the overall message of Christianity. The few historians who are cognizant of the obvious retelling continue to be ignored as their discovery is drowned out by the sensationalism that furiously drives the movement forward.
But nothing exemplifies this retelling better than the Beast of Revelation 13.

(3.) The opening of the third seal presented a black horse, and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. The work of corruption in the church progressed rapidly. The black horse, the very opposite of the first, represents a period of great darkness and moral corruption. By the events of the second seal, the way was fully opened for that state of things to be brought about which is here presented. The time that intervened between the reign of Constantine and the establishment of the papacy in A. D. 538, may be justly noted as the time when the darkest errors and grossest superstitions sprung up in the church.
“The balances denoted that religion and civil power would be united in the person who would administer the executive power in the government, and that he would claim the judicial authority both in church and State. This was true among the Roman emperors from the days of Constantine until the reign of Justinian, when he gave the same judicial power to the bishop of Rome.”—Miller’s Lectures, p. 181.
(4.) When the fourth seal was opened, there appeared a pale horse, and his name that sat on him was called Death, and Hell followed with him. The color of this horse, which is pale or yellowish, like that seen in blighted or sickly plants, denotes the condition of things in the church when the papacy bore its unrestrained and persecuting rule, commencing about A. D. 538, and extending to the time when the reformers had exposed the corruptions of the papal system. During that period fifty millions of martyrs lost their lives by the very instrumentalities named in the prophetic description of that period.
(5.) The events to transpire under the fifth seal are, the crying of the martyrs for vengeance, and giving to them white robes. This represents the work of the reformers, and covers the period of the great reformation.

The so called great tribulation is also in the past. It was the 1260 years of papal supremacy, when millions of true Christians were tortured ans murdered. Not the same thing as the Time of Jacob’s Trouble.
