Ugliness Exposed

As a citizen of the US, I am really ashamed of how our election cycle for this year has evolved.  I have readers all over the world who must be asking how I feel about living in the US this year.  Look, as a citizen of the US, I love my country and I always will.  I won’t kill for this country and I have never been asked to take a Human Life for this country and I won’t.  I didn’t have to be a draft evader during the Vietnam War to get out of killing.  And I never had to face the prospect that I would go to war for this country.  God has made sure I would have never taken a Human Life when my Angels came to me and made sure I never will have to do that.  I am not worried about death or dying.  But I am worried about the direction this country is taking in regard to both our presidential candidates and the tone for warfare coming from both candidates.  I can only vote for the candidate I believe to be the more peaceful of the two.  I hear a lot about violence coming from one of the candidates.  I can’t support his rhetoric and I never will.  This leaves me as a voting citizen with only one choice left.  I can only hope she is the right choice.

But it seems to me that in this election cycle the ugliness of the US has been exposed in ways it’s never happened before.  I would say that most of the citizens of the US are like myself in that we don’t want any more warfare in this world and believe that diplomacy is MORE important than being macho and rattling sabres.  It takes a person with a small penis to say he is more powerful than anyone in the world.  Really.  The US will come out of this election with our military intact and Obama will still be our president for the next few months.  We will have a peaceful change of hands regardless of who wins this election, but there will be people on both sides who will be unhappy about the results.  And so, they will have their pundits and even their politicians on their side making live as miserable as they can for the next president just as there have been people doing this against Obama for the last eight years. 

I disagreed with the previous president to go to war in Iraq.  And I have had my disagreements with this administration.  But it’s because I love this country and for what it stands for that I don’t believe we need to make the mistakes that have been made.  But if I were in power, I too would have the same human foibles as they all do.  No one in the US is perfect.  But in this election we have exposed our ugliness to the world, which I feel I must apologize that the rhetoric has gone this far.  But this has been true of presidential elections in this country from the very beginning.  But one party nominated a person who cares more about tearing down the other side than talking about his policies and thus our process has denigrated to what it is.  I would say Americans want the candidates to talk about their policies, but I fear that is not going to happen.  Our vulnerabilities are being exposed to the world.  But really, this is now who we are as Americans.  We are a proud people with a rich heritage.  And we have welcomed strangers to our shores.  Most of us don’t accept the idea of closing ourselves off to the world.  We believe the world needs us and the world needs us to be strong.  While I don’t believe in taking Human Life, I live in a country that allows me the freedom to say what I wish, knowing there ARE consequences to freedom of speech because there ARE people that won’t agree with me.  But we don’t lock up people for disagreeing with us.  We encourage dialogue and discussion as long as it is productive.  I believe in the right of EVERY Human to live and while there are those who don’t agree with me or believe in my Angels, I allow them to disagree and not believe.  As God doesn’t care about belief, I say I don’t either.  I am Brother Ralphie writing for my Angels from The Angels of Life Institute.  Peace.
