My Angels and Fake News

It is true about what I said yesterday about the Pope authorizing priests to forgive women who have had abortions.  And the question some have asked me is how I feel about this given my feelings about abortion being the same as murder.  I don’t judge for God.  In fact, I would go so far to say that the Pope doesn’t judge for God.  And I would go so far to say that maybe it’s not always the mother who is to blame for an abortion.  I have struggled at times with how I believe God will judge doctors who perform abortions, however, in most cases it comes down to the woman making the decision.  And from a practical standpoint, a lot of women would be outcasts from the Church for having had abortions.  So, I say that while I don’t agree with God forgiving women who have had abortions, I DO say that I, like this Pope and his priests, do NOT judge ANYONE for God.  I can say HOW I think God will judge when the Messiah comes, and that when it comes the issue of abortion, I can say what I think, just as this Pope is saying what he thinks.  And in this regard, he is correct in allowing ALL people who have committed ALL sins to worship and take communion in the context of the Church.  I don’t agree that God will forgive ALL sins.  This is my struggle.  HOWEVER, I will NOT judge where I believe God WILL judge.  The Church would be excluding a LOT of people if in fact the Church decides to exclude certain people because of the sin of murder.  How the Church handles this sin is up to the Church, but as for me, I would HAVE to judge those with whom I associate, because of the sin of murder.

This leads me to the topic of the day and that is how I gather information, particularly when it comes to politics here in the US.  I don’t doubt that a headline that the Pope authorizes priests to forgive women who have had abortions is a real headline.  This is the example I WILL use to illustrate my point.  Some might question the validity of such a headline, because of how a lot of people feel about the sin of abortion.  And how people feel about anything can cloud their search for truth, if indeed they bother to search for it.  And that is exactly my point I want to make this morning.  Some people don’t bother to search for the truth, because one, it’s too much work, and two, they don’t have the time to read a number of sources for accurate information.  And further, there are news organizations that ARE biased.  Some might suggest that ALL news organizations are biased in some form or another.  I would suggest that here in the US reputable news organizations are under fire because enough people don’t think they accurately report the news.

So then, how do I my Angels fin in with what is considered to be fake news?  I say that uncovering the truth about anything is part of the Apocalyptic Age in which we are now living.  And really, it might take news organizations outside the US to portray accurately what is happening in the US.  But MY thinking is that if I read the same story from independent news agencies, then I can assume that what I am reading is correct.  Some people feel they do this already.  But INDEPENDENT news agencies which believe they are reporting accurately what IS news HAVE  to be reliable sources for everyone.  A lot of “reliable” sources cater only to those who read what they write for MONETARY gain.  Jesus could very well come today and we wouldn’t know based on what various news sources have to say about Him.  But MY thinking is that we can question ANYTHING we want, including what I have just written about the Pope and Catholic priests forgiving women who have had abortions.  There are those who might believe this is a fake news story.  There ARE respectable news sources that WANT to be accurate in what they are reporting.  But the fact is that in this Age in which we are living, I would suggest that TRUTH is hard to come by.  It’s indicative of this Age in which we are living now.  What I HAVE to say here is simply what I believe to be truth.  The FACT is that Jesus could come most any day now.  If He doesn’t come today, then in fact, I have a lot of work to do.  I am Brother Ralphie writing for my Angels from The Angels of Life Institute.  Peace.
