-Satan Clubs in Public Elementary Schools?

At a time when Christian clubs are being challenged in many public school districts across America, Satan Clubs are now being allowed. Ironically, the same SCOTUS ruling that supported Christian student groups in public schools is being used as the legal basis for establishing new After School Satan Clubs. Here’s the story from the Christian Post:

Coming soon to a school in the Skagit Valley of the state of Washington -a Satan Club?..

“A so-called ‘After School Satan Club’ proposed by the Satanic Temple of Seattle to be held at Centennial Elementary School should be allowed to proceed,

an attorney hired to represent the Mount Vernon School District said.” …

Ironically, they are using a pro-Christian ruling, the Supreme Court decision of Good News Bible Club v. Milford Central School District (2001) to justify paving the way for the Satan club.

So this is what the First Amendment comes down to in the Year of Our Lord 2016? Satan clubs after school. This is an amazing turn of events. It is quite a sign of the times.

Response: Ironically this is being framed as a First Amendment issue. This is a real dilemma for those of us who are concerned about the decline of Religious liberty in America. The article above points out that in the past America was substantially  Christian and the First Amendment was originally all about Christian sectarianism. Now even the devil gets equal consideration?

Lately, we have seen public schools allowing space for Muslim prayers while at the same time some have been clamping down on Christian students bringing Bibles to  school or praying over their lunches in the cafeteria.

Even though the Supreme Court has ruled that student lead Christian clubs are legal in public schools, some districts have tried to eliminate them anyway. While others have even gone to the extreme by disbanding all after school clubs. In this case a Satan club is being allowed using the very same ruling. What can we say about it if Christian clubs are still allowed? Has it really come to this in America?                 *Top
