The Sun Still Shines On North Carolina And The Music Still Plays!

The largest furniture trade show in the world is held for 5 days during the spring, and fall of each year in High Point, North Carolina. I was on the scene of the latest show for several hours Saturday, October 22, and Sunday October 23, 2016.  

According to a Duke University Study released during October, 2013, it was estimated that the High Point Furniture Market brings in an impressive total of $5.39 billion in annual economic impact. The study also indicated that more than 37,000 jobs were created by the market when totaling all industry sectors, while generating 539 million dollars in annual tax revenues (Brun and Lester 2013).

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:” (Ephesians 1:17 KJV)

Several high profile public events have been moved from North Carolina by organizations opposed to North Carolina’s House Bill 2 (HB2) legislation. The HB2 law requires that individuals use the bathroom matching with the sex indicated on ones Birth Certificate. I am glad to report that I found no reported incidents where the HB2 legislation created undue hardship for those using bathroom facilities in High Point. I spoke to local police on Sunday, October 23 and the officers were not aware of any incidents at that time. I also watched local television news and scanned area newspapers, and no incidents were reported. Despite what you may think about HB2, I strongly believe the legislation was designed as a defensive measure against an external covert operation. In my opinion, this media driven controversy over bathroom and dressing room accommodations is merely a calculated assault on sensibilities, and the safety of families and children. It is also designed to cause great confusion where little existed beforehand. I never want to see anyone feeling alone or afraid!

The High Point Furniture Market is an international event, hosting furniture Buyers from countries located in various parts of the world. I witnessed everyone getting along well, and conducting business normally. Numerous Exhibitors lead alternative lifestyles and everyone I encountered seemed to thrive in the environment. I personally pray that everyone can come to the ways of God, but we are all God’s children.

The citizens of North Carolina have always communicated with each other, and “taken turns” using a single bathroom facility when only one exists, or when one of two bathrooms is “out of order.”

Further organized assaults on business activity in North Carolina would be acts of vengeance and control, designed to destroy the fabric of our society!

May Lord Jesus continue to watch over us, and Jehovah’s will be done!
