What version of the KJ are you using?

      • holytext.org

They are all the same, but for consistency, 1769.

      Your a contradiction to yourself

    • LifeIs

Oh, please, there are many. My favorite is the arrest of Jesus.

Matthew 26 and Mark 14 and Luke 22 say that Judas Iscariot identified Jesus.

John 18 (written by an eyewitness) says that Judas led the officers to the location, but that Jesus identified himself to them. No kiss. No pointing out of Jesus by Judas.

“Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.

Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?

They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he: if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way…”

      Another contradiction:

John (written by an eyewitness) says nothing about Jesus getting sent to King Herod. Matthew and Mark don’t have that embellishment, either. Only Luke does. (chapter 23)

THREE Gospel authors included things that they heard, which are clearly embellishments. I don’t blame them for believing what they heard, or for writing in those things.

And I do not doubt that John was written by an eyewitness to Jesus’ ministry, and crucifixion, and resurrection. And I do not doubt that the author was Mary Magdalene.

Lol, amazing how illogical you are, you should learn some historical science and how that works, how people find out how a text is actually true or not.

Let me give you an example and tell me if it’s a contradiction:

        1. I go to disneyland one day and I post it on facebook.
        2. My friends sees my post the same day.
        3. My friend calls me to see how I’m doing and asks me what I’m doing.
        4. I tell him i’m at the movies.

Did I just contradict what I said earlier? You’d have to be pretty stupid to conclude that. There is nothing contradictory about those verses. Negation isn’t a contradiction.

        • LifeIs

          Yes, there is something contradictory.

          Here it is.

In 3 Gospels, Judas identified Jesus to the officers.

In John, Jesus identified himself to the officers.

Two different stories. That’s what contradiction MEANS.

It is also negation, because whichever story you believe nullifies the other. They can’t BOTH be true.

And in John, Judas stayed with the officers. As well he might, considering that the OTHER leaders of Jesus’ organization had swords. (There are two different accounts of what happened when Peter used his, but moving right along…)

          Here is something else contradictory.

In 3 Gospels, Jesus got a quick hearing, like the Captain’s Mast on a Navy ship. And Pontius Pilate then ordered the scourging, then the crucifixion.

Luke adding a trip to see Herod isn’t just some detail left out by others. It takes TIME, on a day when Pontius Pilate needed to get his condemned prisoners crucified and done with.

It is not logical. Pilate trying to pass the buck, because his wife had a dream, isn’t logical, either. Because he did end up crucifying Jesus.

These two stories do not NEGATE each other. But they do CONTRADICT each other.

If I say, Jesus had two hearings (Sanhedrin and Pilate) and YOU say Jesus had three hearings (Sanhedrin, Pilate, Herod) we are contradicting each other.

Because two is different from three.

          You’re welcome.

If you’re so confident. Send 5 bucks, and you might win 10k.

    • Gordon

OK Guys, I jumped thru all the hoops and paid my 5 bucks and submitted my contradiction. The answer came back that it was not a contradiction. But I want you to be the judge whether Edward simply wants to dismiss the truth so he doesn’t have to pay the 10k. So here it is:

Contradiction in the King James 1769 Bible
In the book of Hebrews chapter 3-4 we learn of God’s intent (thru the author) to offer His people rest through the
New Covenant. That covenant was the direct result of Jesus becoming the fulfillment of God’s intended New Covenant plan. Those that enter in through Jesus find rest from all their striving.
In contrast we find that the Old Covenant did not offer the people rest and the writer of Hebrews draws support from this by referring to the story of Joshua son of Nun and the children of Israel having not entered into the promise land due to the hardness of their hearts.
The contradiction is found in Hebrews 4:8.
“For if Jesus had given them rest, then He (God) would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

“The contradiction is in this one verse: Did Jesus by His actions provide the New Covenant believer rest? Yes. So why does the beginning of Hebrews 4:8 (underlined) suggest Jesus did not give them rest?
It’s because the opening line of the verse refers to the wrong person.

Here’s the reason for this contradiction In the 1611 and 1769 King James Bibles we find that the word “Yeshua” (Joshua) was replaced across the board with the name “Jesus”. They were so thorough in their attempts to expunge the name that they even expunged Joshua (Yehoshua) son of Nun’s name in this Hebrews 4:8 passage.

Hebrews 4:8 (1611-1769 King James Version) reads:For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
      It should have read:
Hebrews 4:8 New King James Version (NKJV)For if Joshua had given them rest,
then He would not afterward have spoken of another day.

The proof that this was a fraudulent verse and thus making it contradictory to the message of the Word of God came 360 years later with the New King James version (1979) proving that the opening statement of Hebrews 4:8 was wrongly translated as “jesus” rather than “Joshua”. Other translations of the Bible also support the New King James Version change as being correct in its translation.
Hebrews 4:8 (New International Version) For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken
later about another day. This will also be posted on beforeitsnews.

      • holytext.org

Why didn’t you post my answer? So dishonest and it’s no contradiction and why do you come to the NKJV? The NKJV is not based on the textus receptus, Gordon.

        ANSWER to your “contradiction”

“ιησους (Iesous),” or “Jesus,” is the Greek form of “Joshua.” Critics claim that the KJV, by merely transliterating the name, misleads readers into thinking that these verses about Joshua the son of Nun are about Jesus Christ. However, one must wonder why English readers should be misled by something that did not mislead Greek readers, for the Greek does not differentiate the two. Rather, it would be more helpful for an English reader to learn that “Jesus” was a typical Hebrew name, and that the identity of any “Jesus” must be determined by context. In 2007, a documentary titled The Lost Tomb of Jesus tried to create a sensation by revealing the discovery of a “tomb of Jesus.” The documentary exploited the English public’s ignorance of the fact that “Jesus” was a typical name in first century Judea. On another note, Jesus the son of Nun of the Old Testament was a “type” of Jesus the son of God of the New Testament. Whereas the mortal Jesus led the Israelites to physical rest, the divine Jesus led man to spiritual rest. God may have purposely given the same name to both men in order that we see that one is the type of the other. This truth is apparent in the KJV.

Like I show in the answer, you can’t just see the name “Jesus” and assume, oh it’s about Jesus (God). CONTEXT determines who you’re talking about. My friend Jesus from Mexico is 20 years old. Does that mean I’m talking about God in your mind Gordon?
