Israel at Seventy and the Bible’s Mathematics

I just turned 70 years old, and I mean old. My mind says 70 is the new 50, my body says no. In 2018 Israel will be 70 years old as a re-established State. In America we just witnessed the most problematic election in history with two candidates laboring to be the “lesser of two evils”. Europe is seeing its EU come apart; the Middle East is a battleground of many nations, Islamic Jihadists and factions. Asia sees and aggressive and expansionist Communist China seizing territory. 2017 will be a critical year; many ask will Israel survive as the “Kings of the north and south” unite to oppose her? 70 Nations just met to try to impose a non-Biblical “peace” upon Israel. The answer seems to be in the numbers, gematria.

Numbers have great meaning in Hebraic thought; they are a form of icon, they convey meanings to statements. Without being too complicated, certain numbers and combinations give impact to statements. The number seven has Divine influence. Yeshua (Jesus) said to forgive a transgression seventy times seven, in short, without limit. Six denotes a human and non-Divine meaning; the number of a man is “666”. This has been misconstrued into many forms, but it means non-Divine. Twelve is the most commonly used number, with 12 Tribes from 12 brothers, 12 Apostles from at least 70 Disciples, and 144,000 the “Remainder”, the leaders of Revelation.

Unfortunately, there has been a spurt of Bible Codes (where to find buried treasure, predict the end of the world, and etc. and etc.) But these belong in the conspiracy file, not Biblical guidance.

We can imagine all that can happen at 70. Moses was a very comfortable heir to Jethro’s herds and priesthood. Jethro had no sons so Moses would be the patriarch. He had left Egypt as a fugitive at 40 or so, and was finished with fearing reprisals, so far he was dead as far as Pharaoh was concerned. A climb up to the burning bush cured that. Moses tried to evade the call to free the Hebrews; he was old, a poor speaker, and other dodges. Probably he was looking forward to being patriarch and priest, but God would have none of it. By coincidence, President Trump is an energetic and vital 70. By coincidence some 70’s are coming together. Pray and wait upon The Lord.
