-Australia: Tennis Legend Loses Tennis Club Membership For Stand Against Gay Marriage

A Tennis legend who is now a Christian pastor has lost her membership in a local tennis club over her stand against same-sex marriage. From the Christian Post:

Margaret Court, an Australian tennis legend-turned-Pentecostal pastor, has had her local tennis club membership cut following her outspoken views defending traditional marriage.  …

Court has strongly criticized the push in Australian society to legalize gay marriage ahead of the national postal ballot on the issue.

“I sense at the moment you can put a Yes sign in the window, everything’s all right, but if you put a No sign you get a brick through your window,” the tennis legend said.

Response: At least Australians get to vote over the issue. However, the controversy is causing some deep divisions and, like in this case, it is bringing on a wave of discrimination against people of faith who support traditional marriage.

Only a few years ago LGBT folks were asking for ‘toleration’ now there is little or none coming from their side for folks with opposing religious convictions.

In the last few months in America I have seen dozens of articles supporting the public censure of ministers and churches who take Biblical stands against same-sex marriage and transgender issues. Activists are now calling for the ‘outing’ and public humiliation of leaders and churches who continue to refuse to conduct same-sex marriages. This tactic will not be successful any time soon since the majority of the Christian churches and denominations in the USA still refuse to participate in same-sex ceremonies including the the largest- Roman Catholic Church, United Methodist Church, and Southern Baptist Convention.

Nevertheless public figures, like Margaret Court in Australia, may be subjected to forms of discrimination. We have already seen some Christian TV personalities lose their shows and some fire and police officers their positions and you can count on more of that in the future.                *Top
