-It’s Official: New AI Worshipping Church?

I read about it first in Dan Brown’s new novel- “Origen.” Now real life is mimicking Sci-Fi. A new religion based upon worshipping technology and AI as a ‘god’ has just officially registered with the IRS. Here’s the story from PJ Media:

A former executive at Google has filed paperwork with the IRS to establish an official religion of technology. …

The new church of AI will aim “to develop and promote the realization of a Godhead based on artificial intelligence and through understanding and worship of the Godhead [to] contribute to the betterment of society,” according to IRS documents.

The non-profit religious organization would be called “Way of the Future” (WOTF). According to the website (wayofthefuture.church), the movement is “about creating a peaceful and respectful transition of who is in charge of the planet from people to people + ‘machines.’”

Response: So their new ‘god’ would be an AI? I know that some folks seem to worship science and technology but this takes it to an entirely different level.

In the distant past humans actually worshipped things that they created with their own hands. They were called idols. Now we have come full circle and supposedly intelligent/progressive folks are suggesting that we do it all over again?

Other super intelligent folks are fearful that AI’s could potentially take over and rule over us. But these guys are calling that a ‘good’ thing. Something that should be sought after and make for a better world? Well I saw the movie and read the books. It would be a horrible tyrannical nightmare.               *Top
