-Making Human-Chimp Hybrids to Contradict The Bible?

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion… over all the earth…” -Gen. 1:26 (ESV)

A psychologist is pushing for the making of human-chimp hybrids in order to discount and overcome the Bible teaching that humans are unique and created to rule. From PJ Media:

…psychologist David Barash proposes that society should sanction the making of human-chimp hybrids. “… After all, human and chimp (or bonobo) share, by most estimates, roughly 99 percent of their nuclear DNA.”

His main argument for pursuing the creation of a human-chimp hybrid is based on the belief that humans have an unwarranted belief that we are special creatures. As Barash puts it,

“Moreover, I propose that the fundamental take-home message of such creation would be to drive a stake into the heart of that destructive disinformation campaign of discontinuity, of human hegemony over all other living things.”

Response: I really don’t think that Barash or anyone else has really thought this thing through. Exactly what would it prove except that it could be done and probably shouldn’t have. Would the hybrid even be an actual new species if they could not reproduce? Scientifically ‘creating’ a new half human hybrid would not contradict what the Bible says about the place of humanity in God’s creation. Actually it would demonstrate it.

In the article, Barash is quoted as saying that a human-chimp hybrid would somehow combat racism. I am certain that the opposite would be the case with discrimination following a new half human target. Would the “humanzee” have anything close to human rights and citizenship or would they be the property of the scientists and companies who ‘created’ them or the servant/pet of any who later ‘bought’ them?

To be real, they would be costly to produce and take care of. Who’s going to pay for it all and what would they do and become? Servants, workers, soldiers, criminals, or pets? Does it really make any sense to create a new dependent underclass just to ‘prove’ that humans are nothing special but just another animal subject to evolution?

But what other animal on earth could do such a thing? ironically a ‘humanzee’ would not be the product of any kind of ‘natural selection’ but a  dependent scientific creation that would actually demonstrate humanity’s prowess and intelligent domination over the rest of creation. Just like God in the Bible said it should be.                *Top
