Seventh Station - Jesus falls for the second time

We adore you O Christ and we praise you

Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.

From the Book of Lamentations. 3:1-2,9,16
I am the man who has seen affliction under the rod of his wrath; he has driven and brought me into darkness without any light. He has blocked my way with hewn stones, he has made my paths crooked. He has made my teeth grind on gravel, and made me cower in ashes.

Mankind fell through Adam, and mankind rose up again through Christ. This second fall of Jesus shows for me, the struggle that humanity has in keeping on the right path. We are so weighed down with the cares of the world, with our own ambitions, with worry about what others say about us. We are often falling away from that which holds our hope for life. Here Jesus falls under the weight of the cross, and the burden of our sins.

Jesus, by the spectacle of your falling to the dust of the earth, grant me the courage to rise up from my many falls, my sins, and seek you in confession.

I love you Jesus my love above all things…
