The thin wisp of sanity
floats unseen in the conflict-ridden air,
madness is war, utter chaos, horrendous.
And in the end,
in the dirt of a blood-stained floor,
the innocent sit amongst the ruins
in the rubble that was life,
crying out…what was it all for?
No glory, no victory,
just the stench of the corruption of human vanity.

Thank you Father for those few lines of common sense.
The verses are few in this poetry, but they tell long about what’s left from war: losses, sadness, cries and desolation by loved one’s around cadavers, and all from sudden surges of violence; all starting with pride, chin’s high that had forgotten the peace earned after the last truce.
Tell it to the nazi crucifying and burning christians. When one side wants war above all else and the other wants it not at all we have a problem that nice flowery words do not solve.

It is a time-delay reply due to a necessary detour made through the long comments typed below. Luckily, the page ‘War is Vanity’ is now buried in the archives of BIN, so this important ‘reply’ will remain discreet as a one-on-one conversation with the unknown individual under the pen name ‘Fake News etc’.
I understand the frustration, which comes from some nostalgia’s to the basic laws of Moses, and in particular to the Talion Law during a time of war such as the to-day’s Ukraine/Russia. This said frustration originates from the radical Sermon on the Mound “if one slaps you, tend the other cheek”. Through a paraphrase of words of the Lord’s mouth given (during WW2) to a mystic, I’ll attempt an answer.
Jesus said (July 9, 1943): “Speaking to Moses, the Lord said: “Do not contaminate your souls with any reptiles crawling over the ground. I am the Lord who took you out of Egypt to be your God; and you will be holy because I am holy.” Those words from the Father address to masses when during a period of non-civilized people still reacting to the most basic instincts. The Lord gave those people detailed laws to regulate and atone some reprehensible behaviors, which were done WITHOUT MALICE.

Jesus could say that because He took us out of sin in order to be our God (while the Father used a strong hand to take from Egypt’s bondage a basic instinct primitive people)”
I stop the paraphrasing (I confess that paraphrasing Our Lord is an uneasy task). Jesus’ law starts with the rejection of all malice’s and bad will (some level that the Jews will never attain, unless they become Christians). Jesus Christ does not impose limitations to holiness, He tells us to reject all evils, through His Cross as the highest standard for imitation.
Second comment.
This poetry is published on Fat Tuesday. Coincidence? on this day of carnival, drunkenness and debauchery. The day when multitude of senseless men take the costumes & character of beasts. Acceperunt characterum bestiae (Apoc. 19. 20). This multitude, disoriented, forgetful to stay away from the Golden Calf into all the follies of the century; forgetful and blind to enter into sentiments of piety… as said St. Augustin: Bibant alii mortiferas voluptates; portio calicis mei Dominus est. (Aug. in Ps. 15).
Alas, Fr Patrick Brennan must worry for the flock he has been given to attend, as one may sense from the lines of his poetry!
What can be done? This priest has likely a plan, the likely classic plan from seminaries which is three fold for this troubled day of Fat Tuesday, in preparation for the Lent season. Here is a capsule of the said classic ‘three steps plan.’

There is no doubt that Fr Patrick Brennan as all holy Catholic priest must have taken his dispositions in this time of war, in this time of great dangers for the nations and for his flock.
The late Father Malachi Martin claims to have read the 3rd secret of Fátima. Please, learn that Russia has been consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary according to the demands made at Fatima. Dear ‘Fake News etc’ The revelations made about the ‘Consecration of Russia done in June 1991′ may either get you floored or just incredulous. It is not what I usually do, to tell too many details, because truly I feel been just a steno-dactylo, a brainless typing hand, having little idea of what’s coming next. I reluctantly make an exception, because for this move, it must be done so in order to convince you that what I typed minutes ago truly happen.
The ‘Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary etc etc ‘ is big business to the Vatican. One man named Father Nicolas Grunner was the founder of this world-wide movement. Some times ago, this brainless but obedient typing hand of mine, wrote a personal letter to Father Grunner explaining in a longer form, what I just posted onto the comment above. In this said longer form (to Fr. Grunner) I dutifully confirmed that the authentic Vicar of Christ (Pope Gregory XVIII) had consecrated Russia according to the demands made by Our Lady of the Rosary at Fatima, and that he could cease his worldwide ‘Fatima campaign’ which had become obsolete.
I have always written letters ever since I was little, under the supervision of my grand-mother (a retired school teacher! think about that!). Father Grunner did not directly reply to my private letter but instead had a public response in passing through the air a video. This video had the format of an interview in which gave his response to the ‘Siri Theory’. Cardinal Siri, former Patriarch of Genoa became Pope Gregory XVII (October 26, 1958 to May 2, 1989). He was, according to the Prophecy of St. Malachi the authentic ‘Mariner’.

My heart sank. May be I had been in error? The doubt took me for a little while, until, my heart sank again when learning of the sudden and unexpected death of Father Nicolas Grunner.
The conclusion to this story is evident. This priest mocked God. He mocked the Mother of God, and he mocked the Vicar of God.
