Saturday Morning Production Meeting With Your Boss, God (Creator of the Universe).

Hey Guys: Saturday Morning Production Meeting With Your Boss, God (Creator of the Universe).

James 1:22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves.

Luke 11:9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

Quiet time? Daily devotions? As a Christian, You are most likely familiar with the concept and it is probably a part of your daily routine. From what I have heard and read, most Christians have the time set aside for this activity in the morning. Some of the problems with this is that the time is short and limited. There is a hard stop at a point in time when most of us need to leave to go to work. If you hit the snooze button or burn breakfast, it can be even shorter, rushed or non-existent. It is the worst part of some people’s day in regard to mental acuity.

After thinking long and hard about my adult life, I realized that I have made only 3 big mistakes / really bad decisions. I figured out how I potentially could have avoided them.

Repetitive sin? As a Christian, You may be familiar with the concept. What to do about this problem?

If you are and average American Christian, you rack up about 40 hours of TV viewing a week, spend a significant amount of time on social media, fill in the spaces of time when the mind would tend to ponder (or wander) with radio / music. When does one spend time, as much as needed, to pray, think, read, study and plan for all the issues both bad and good in ones life?

One article I came across suggests that the average morning “quiet time” is about 15 minutes. With 40 or 50 hours of time devoted to electronic noise, one could schedule time with no specific set end time to sort through the issues.

I had been having these Saturday morning meetings quiet regularly for about a year. I work two jobs. I have a full time and part time job that usually totals over 65 hours a week. I get ready for, drive to, and drive home from work typically 10 times a week. I still have a nice slice of time most Saturday mornings. If you don’t have the time or you don’t know where all the time goes. You may want to track your time on paper for a couple of weeks. You may find that you have lots of time for projects and reading and even some time for memorization.

Let’s look at 3 scenarios that might benefit from a regularly scheduled weekly extended meeting with God.

Let’s take a look at this one. My apologies in advance for bring this up but Jesus brought it up first and in public no less:

Matthew 5: 27-28

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

How are those 15 min. slices of time doing for you in relation to this and other repetitive sins? How about anger? How about sins in regard to your words?

Perhaps this issues would benefit from time every week giving an account for your actions, asking for help, and seeking the answers that may already exist. The above example is quite serious as it shows the intent of the individual to do what is evil. Quite an indictment against a believer and yet so many are content to casually pass along a confession, down the last of your coffee and head off to work.

Here is another. Perhaps if you are single, you have found the one. This may be the person you marry and spend the rest of your life with. Perhaps there are some issues that need to be kept open for discussion perpetually like the one already mentioned. Perhaps dissecting issues like these:

I’m going to be the leader of my future family. How am I doing leading myself?

Do we have compatible lifestyles and directions in life (are we going the same way, do we live the same way)?

Imagine one person who lives lean financially, eats healthy, has no need for pets, TV, fast food etc. Now imagine this individual living with a media addict, junk food junkie, pet loving couch potato. This person is cute, nice and is a Christian and would love to be addicted to you also. Sorting through the issues would be beneficial I think.

How about this? Are you currently involved in ministry? Perhaps weekly discussions with God about your efforts would be of benefit. You don’t want to just go through the motions. If there is not a point to your activities perhaps it is not worth the time or effort. If you are involved in ministry and you never pray about what you are doing, perhaps you are arrogant?

Saturday morning might be a good time to take a look at your sermon notes from last Sunday. Perhaps there is something you heard that is worth remembering or doing. Lately I always have a piece of paper in my pocket. From time to time I experience clarity and enlightenment. I write it down for review at the production meeting. An occasional good one gets added to the Saturday notebook so it does not roll of the horizon never to be seen again.

See statistics on TV viewing in past years (about 40 hours / week average and most Christians are average):
