Secretive White House party included ‘Alice in Wonderland,’ punch served in blood vials…

Are the Obamas the next Rothschilds?

From Liberty Confidential: An extravagant, and strange, 2009 White House party had guests greeted by a fully-costumed Johnny Depp standing on a table decorated with vintage-inspired table cloths and surrounded by giant stuffed animals.

Depp was The Mad Hatter, and the Dining Room had been transformed into an elaborate Wonder Land.

Festivities also included fruit punch served in blood vials, a magic show in the East Room, and Chewbacca (in the original Chewbacca costume from Star Wars, courtesy of George Lucas).

By Sunday at noon, the news media was buzzing about the news of the White House’s secretive and strange 2009 party. Sunday evening, the White House moved to defend itself.

“If we wanted this event to be a secret, we probably wouldn’t have invited the press corps to cover it, release photos of it to Flickr, or post a video from it on the White House website,” White House spokesman Eric Schultz said in a statement. “Even Johnny Depp’s fans knew about it and posted on their website. Just goes to show you can’t believe everything you read in books these days.”

Politico.com suggests that the White House might not have kept it an outright secret; but they did out of their way not to draw attention to it. In other words, it was a cover-up.

“The official White House social media releases and the reporter pool dispatches from the party do not mention either Burton or Depp,” writes Byron Tau at The Politico. “Then-White House press secretary Robert Gibbs addressed the event in his briefing, but did not go into any detail.”

Tau adds that the Depp fan site JohnnyDeppNews.com reported that the actor was in attendance with Burton. I looked at the page, and it’s pretty vague in detail. It basically says that Depp was there, and so was Tim Burton. It also says “it is not known” if they dressed up; so Depp’s fans didn’t seem to know much about it.

As the Daily Mail points out, the Obamas handed out treats to school children earlier in the day, and that particular event was indeed covered heavily by the press.

However, the later festivities were very actively kept secret. It was invitation only, the press wasn’t allowed inside, and there have been no photos revealing what went on inside.

The only images show the first couple greeting children outside the dining room.

Recently, I stumbled on this comment amongst Amazon’s reviews for The Memoirs of the Baron de Redé: “I don’t think the rich live like this anymore.”

Apparently, some still do.
